We have lots of citrus. I think we have 18 trees in total. We are in Santa Barbara, on the central coast of California. Our most productive is our commercial sized Eureka Lemon. It was planted by our home's prior owner and we have been here 23 years, so it must be at least 25 years old. We have 20+ ripe lemons on the tree year round. We use them constantly and never run out. Our second most productive is our Key Lime, which we planted the first year we owned our house. It produces massive quantities and we often get overwhelmed. Unlike the lemon, we will get tons all at once and then nothing at all. We have sweet, bearss, kaffir and key limes. Key is the most productive (and useful) followed by the Kaffir. We also have a valencia orange that is very productive (and useful). Our most recent addition is a fukushu kumquat, so I am glad to hear it is productive.

bonsai -- are you talking about in containers? Or in the ground?

out of my 22 different citrus varieties my kishu and bearss lime are the most productive followed by my meyers lemon.

I have a Fukushu kumquat that is 7 feet tall and 5 foot diameter that has yet to produce a fruit and even flower with more than 10 flowers.

Dave, either. I know that different environments can lead to different yields, but I'm curious in general.

Steve, that's interesting. I think I've seen you post on here before that you have both grafted and seed grown? Is that one a seed grown? Mine's a grafted one from four winds that despite it's tiny size, set 23 fairly large fruit and has one that should be mature in a few weeks. The other branches that have grown since it moved into its window have started setting blooms, I find it tends to hold onto a lot of its fruit. (Though I'm considering doing some thinning in the future if it decides to set these blooms into fruit).
