I don’t know what they’re made of but if they are removable could you wash them?

Hi, socks! I think that they can be removed and handwashed. They seem to be a regular ribbon (satin?). Any specific recommendations for removing the dirt (or, possibly, mildew) that has accumulated? Shout? Bleach? Something else?

Just me, I have had luck with Biz. Others like oxyclean. Use only tepid water and them soak a while. You could ask more on laundry forum. People there know more than I do.

I'd consider replacing them with a rope, raffia or something that has a more rustic look. Somehow, the silky ribbons seem a little bit incongruous with the terra cotta. It's an interesting piece though, and I like how you've displayed it at your door.
