Scale is some kind of insect that sucks the lifeblood out of plants, every kind of plant from gardenias to zinnias to apple trees. There are insecticides, even organic ones, but not friendly to butterflies and right now the monarchs are here. I've kind of given up for the time being, but what can i do to keep them from coming back next spring?
