One of my neighbors has a pumpkin-colored house with a seemingly permanent giant spider on the gable.

The spiders match the house perfectly!

I Googled, trying to find the above spiders for sale but got too creeped out looking at all the other ads for spiders. aaaccck.

I'm curious about a couple of things on the house.

First, the sides of the entry are open, yet there's a window above. Do you think the space behind the window is open to below? That would be the perfect top of entry to have a light within, even with the two light fixtures at the arch, since you still need some light at the door.

Second, the gutter to the left of the arch, does it empty onto the roof inn the back corner, then flow down to the lower gutter?

Third, how do you stack the pumpkins, like the little orange ones on to of the larger white ones? Use a skewer?

Last night we watched Tarantula on Creature Features on The Movie Channel, I think. It had an interesting cast, starring John Agar and Leo G. Carroll (
AKA Cosmo on Topper TV Show) with cameo appearances from Raymond Bailey (AKA Mr. Drysdale) and Clint Eastwood. Music by Henry Mancini.

I wonder if this movie was selected because it is getting close to Halloween, but it still seems a bit early to me. It is a surprisingly good movie, considering it is 1955 sci-fi horror, but then I like that genera.

You can see a window (top of glass door), but I can't tell if it's a reflection of the one on the porch or from inside the house.

If it was from the porch. it's a novel way of bringing in more light.

I have seen where an upper gutter flows down the roof to a lower - not ideal, esp in areas where freezing/thawing can occur, but on the left, it looks like the end of the upper gutter right above lower

As for the pumpkins, you could just cut off the stem and the smaller pumpkins will sit atop.

A skewer would work, but you then breech the inners of the pumpkins and they may not last as long as they would if left intact.

I saw a blogger post that Home Depot and At Home both had large spiders. Classy Clutter does this every year and she added to it this year. I couldn't find a pic on her web page.
