That is a good idea. Once the countertops and backsplash are in, we may paint the walls, leave the cabinets as is, and see how we feel. I will post pictures when the countertops are in. Thank you for responding!

the current blue/gray wall color is wrong w/your flooring and the cabinets. So once that is repainted, your cabinets will prob look better.

Lighting. make sure you have the proper bulbs in the kitchen. 4000K is best

for your next fridge, make it a counter depth model. (unless you can push back that current one 6 inches)

You need handles for your cabinets. your doors are rather tall, and those little knobs look too small. Try some 6" pulls.

(not the cup pulls) and for the drawers w/the center knobs, you'll have to leave those since the hole is in the middle. on the others, just use the current hole for the bottom and drill the 2nd hole above. bring home a few diff sizes so you can see what you like. 5-6" (overall length, not hole spacing) should be fine

the light in the other room needs to be replaced, and w/diff bulbs

Is the paint swatch for the walls or is that the color you're considering painting the cabinets? I think it would work well on your walls with your existing cabinets and new counters.

Er62. Yes, the white swatch is SW alabaster (which is what we were considering for the cabinets). A great idea. I’m a big fan of painting the walls rather than the cabinets. I actually think the cabinets are beautiful, not crazy about the color, but changing the walls may change how I feel about the cabinet color if they were all warm instead of warm/cool mixed.

Ben Moore simply white or super white . Pratt and lambert ancestral or seed pearl . Bring home at least the brochure from sherwin Williams or benj Moore of “whites” . I cut out the color squares and put them right up on the wall . Day and nite check them out. I had good luck recently w ppg brand ( Pittsburgh paint) eggshell finish wall paint from Menard recently . I’d use it again and just a tad cheaper Than the others. ( it wasn’t a white but I’m sure they have a brochure too)

I have been loving the look of black cabinets on the bottom and white on top. I think your cabinets would look great painted that way and then with new hardware.

Sw Alabaster on the walls

Alabaster on the cabinets. the real paint won't be so opaque but this should give you a visual

I like the mock-up with the Alabaster wall color with the wood cabinets, that is a huge improvement over the current wall color.

Sounds like you like unpainted wood cabinets much more than painted. Install your counter, decide on wall color and backsplash, repaint walls, install backsplash, then follow Beth's advice about other features. (Love that 1st light with wood trim she posted)

I would keep the wood color and update the wall color to a warm gray. My favorite with cherry wood tones is "Thunder" by BM. I have natural cherry wood throughout my home and this one is fabulous! Also, updating the countertops and backsplash would really help to tone it down, as well.

Make sure you get your own bulbs. they give you the really yellow vintage bulbs. you want something in the 3500K range. or if you need good light, get the 4000K LED bulbs. since they are LED, you can do a 75W. these are 60W max for regular bulbs in this fixture. (the energy efficient new bulbs, you can use a higher wattage.)

The granite is in and it is beautiful!! Was hoping the cabinets would look ok and we could just change the wall color but they are too orange (regardless of wall color). Floors will stay the same, granite the same, in process of picking backsplash but it will be white (either subway or stacked stone). We are 100% having the cabinets re-stained or painted a dark color. Hoping someone can help me narrow down a color to paint or stain? If you have pictures, that would be great too! Darker pic is natural day light with no lights on, other are at night with lights on. Thank you in advance!

These are not the type of cabinets (current wood/finish) that would look good restained. In order to properly stain wood cabs, it has to be stripped down to raw wood, and a new stain color applied. This takes a huge amount of work to do correctly.

If you think you just wipe on a darker gel stain over these cabs, it's incorrect. It will not look like the correct finish. (imagine putting on a new nail polish color over a lighter nail polish color)

To properly stain would cost just as much as a pro cabinet specialist coming in to paint these.

I think if you painted the cabs a taupe/gray color, it would look good w/the cabinets and the flooring. I think you could even do a two tone. (tops soft white)

How come the backsplash wasn't removed before the new countertop went in? Just thinking it would be easier to do.

Get some heavy rosin paper to cover the new counters and carefully pry off the old backsplash.

rather than do a white tile, if you do a two tone white/dark gray cab, look into this light gray glass tile.

I also like Shadebrick-Light. (they have a gray and a taupe)

Have you thought about trying to find a backsplash that will bridge the cooler countertop and warmer cabinet color? Those cabinets are beautiful wood to cover with paint. (But I realize people do it every day.)
