Optimising GF layout for efficient functioning family home

last modified: 6 years ago

We’re extending/renovating later this year, and I want some thoughts on getting the most out of the extension/renovation to create a good family home (for 5)..

ive attached plans (which I’m quite happy with) but can’t help but feel we could maybe use the garage space better. We don’t store our car in it and have an alleys running down both sides of the house (for additional storage), so would consider a 1/2 or 1/4 garage and maybe have a bigger utility/boot room that could be accessed from hallway.

im totally open to suggestions if anyone has done anything different that they think works well/is money well spent.

Many thanks

PS The alley to the right is a good metre wide. Another option would be to go right out to the boundary. I’m not sure why the architect didn’t suggest that, but would be open to that also.
