In your kitchen I’d reconsider the valence, backsplash, stools, and heavy black pendants. probably lighter pendants as the first priority, followed by the valence which matches your backsplash too well.

more minimal stools would help the space feel more open (if those are comfortable for you to use). The backsplash is a bit busy and could be brighter but the valence is dragging it down a bit.

id actually dump all the black hanging fixtures and add flush or can lights or at least get lighter colored fixtures, brushed nickel, brass, white, wood, etc.

White ceilings should help a lot.

looks like a pretty setting and you have lots of windows.

The chairs are from a trip to Mexico so I am pretty stuck with them. I am taking the valance down today if I can. I am getting estimates on painting the ceilings. That for sure we are doing...I had the valance made when the draperies were made but I agree it has to go.

If you prefer, you could raise the valence so it just hides the top of the window.

Can you move the TV to the wall opposite the sofa? I think doing so would simplify the fireplace wall.

I think just turning on the lights would help.

I have considered that. The wine cabinet has my fire & Light glassware collection but am re thinking it
