Overwintering gazanias in Zone 5.

Hello Gardenwebbers now Houzz,

I have about 10 lovely gazanias that are still blooming now with 4" brightly colored daisy-like blooms into mid-October, that I would like to bring indoors and somehow find a way to overwinter them until next spring. Any ideas? I have successfully overwintered agapanthus, some salvias, and canna but it is pretty drastic treatment. I give very little light or water and store in a very chilly (45-50 degree F) basement, sometimes with cardboard over the top of the pot to shield from any light. I suppose I have nothing to lose by trying this method. Just wondering if anyone else has ever tried to overwinter these drought-tolerant lovelies. Will appreciate any response. Thanks!
