what is your base soil type.. and how well does it drain ..

and do you run the water long enough to get 3 to 6 inches down into the soil"???

i bet the bottom line will be that you will just have to wing it .. and see what happens

many tulips dont last very many years... so it might not matter all that much ..

and.. often.. winter moisture is a bigger problem.. where are you ... and does your ground freeze ..?:?? .. its best to always include that in your posts...

Thanks, Ken. And you're right, I should have included the zone.I'm in zone 7b and we have had fairly dry and warmer than usual winters for the past couple of years. I guess I will wing it.

I have both kinds of bulbs in my perennial border which is watered daily in summer. never bothered the bulbs, But, as Ken says, tulips don't last very long regardless.
