I also suggest you smooth out that tight curve, dip, into part of the main curve of the bed.

And what are you looking for? Flowering plants? Groundcover?

Also, shade and moisture shouldn't be inhibiting flowering in Hydrangeas. Do you know what kind they are? Have they been pruned?

Yes, I did trim these back last spring. They are from the old wood and our pinnacle and mop head. Perhaps I watered these too much. Suggestions how to bring them back to life?

Shade and moist soils are ideal for mophead hydrangeas......not so much for panicles. They prefer sunnier and typically drier situations. Just restrict the pruning of mopheads to deadheading the old flowers, as pruning can eliminate flowering. You may also need some protection from extreme winter cold or late spring frosts, as cold temps can also inhibit flowering.

Japanese snowbell trees are lovely but will get much larger than the one in your photo.

Flowering groundcover. Spotted Dead Nettle has a long bloom season for your Zone and likes shade (Google search).

I find Goatsbeard blooms in dry shade. Heuchera villosa does, too. You can get tiarella for a spring bloom. Tiarealla comes with colored foliage.

I hate dead nettle and most non-native groundcovers. They spread into your lawn. The other classic is ferns. You can get ferns, like marginal shield fern and Christmas fern that do okay in dry shade. Christmas fern is native, too.
