As you have no doubt seen in looking at other posts for similar chairs posing pictures of the underneath, back can provide answers IF you post a question. What kind of help of advice are you looking for? Since you purchased you know the current value.

Looking a little heavy I think they are probably reproductions perhaps from the 1960s. They look a little low although the legs do not appear to be altered.

These were sold to me for £1300 for the pair, but payment is on collection so I have time to inspect again when delivered and before handing over cash.

My question is whether these chairs are actually worth £1300?

Also, as mentioned in original post they were described as gold plated, and I wonder if there’s any way to confirm this just by visually inspecting the chairs?

My last question is about a mirror I purchased at the same time (French, oval) which was described as 90 years old and sold to me for £700 - again is it possible to judge how accurate this based on the photo I have attached?

Once you have them you should be able to tell if they are gold plated which actually means that thin pieces of gold were applied then smoothed out to make a solid surface. A clear finish was then applied to hold the gold in place and prevent scratches.

Although not my style and I think much older than 90 years I like the mirror better than the chairs. If you are looking for something to be in the same room I would not place them together. My instinct is that the mirror is from right before the turn of the century rather than the 1930s. It may need a specialist cleaning to bring out the real beauty.

Inspect carefully. Most of the people on here are not aware of the values of furniture in Europe but if they match your decor and are sound even if you over paid and I think you may have they appear good chairs. You may find that they are a little too low for the comfort of most people but will make excellent reading chairs.

I can tell you ALMOST for sure without seeing any more of those chairs that they are cheap repros and not worth nearly 1700 USD ..Sorry I have translate pounds to dollars before I can relate.
A similar pair should cost maybe $350....a real antique pair might cost around $4000 to $5000.
These chairs are too heavy, with overblown decoration even for Louis XV, appear to be painted with "glossy gold" and the fabric looks to be a printed pattern imitating needlepoint. My advice is don't buy them....and further advice, as you say you are new to "aged furniture" do some home work before you venture to buy something from a picture.....unless of course you are a dealer trying to drum up business on this site.
The mirror looks to have a better chance of being a real antique, but the chair reflected in the image in another cheap repro. If it is from the same dealer I would be wary of that too.....and at nearly $1000 for a not too big and not terribly old mirror, again I would leave it there for another sucker to buy
