Marvin or Andersen (series dependent) would be the starters of those 4. I would honestly stay far away from anything Pella and or Weathershield as they are not considered to be a quality product.

You want a wood interior or not?

I’d prefer wood interior but I’m open to at least looking at and getting prices on other materials. Not even sure how much longer we will be in our home since our kids have grown up and moved out. Thank you in advance!

My daughter just did Anderson 400 Woodwright windows. They are wood on the inside and clad on the outside. They are very pretty. She also looked at Marvin Integrity, but chose the Anderson as it had a more classic look for her home. Neither were inexpensive.

What style window? Casements, double hungs, sliders, etc? What type of house?

The Pella Lifestyle is a roll-form (instead of extruded) aluminum-clad wood window with a folding fin. I've never liked roll-form aluminum but it looks OK from a distance and I believe the joint of folding fins and the fragile stretchy webs at the corners should be carefully covered with flashing tape. Also Pella's inability to deliver what they promised in the window order is legendary so I stopped using them 30+ years ago and haven't heard anything to tempt me to reconsider.

If you give us a budget per typical window delivered to the site and a type (casement, double-hung, etc.); an idea of what the house will look like and the climate, we might be able to suggest some appropriate windows.

Andersen is spelled with an e and their wood window cladding is PVC. Its the only window with a properly sloped sill, siding slot and drip; the others need a field installed sub-sill but that provides a more traditional looking jamb to sill detail so I always do that. Marvin recently changed the name of the Integrity to Elevate.

Here is a photo of the house. All casement except two bedroom windows in the back will be sliders. Plus we need a new 9 ft. patio door. We live in Michigan and the home is 40 years old. We will do the home in phases starting with a portion of the back which is in the worst shape. I want a good window without performance issues but it doesn’t have to be the absolute best window on the market. The windows are as old as the house but we’ve spent a ton repairing them over the years which I guess is money I could have spent on new windows as they are still drafty.
