I think the covered thing is for butter...maybe. Celery for the long dish? There are always celery dishes but I can't believe it was eaten that much! (My celery dish is used for butter. :P)

That's a covered butter dish....the holes in the insert are so the butter can drain because it likely had been stored in ice water. The other is a relish dish...used for celery, olives, pickles etc.
The mark indicates that the design was registered in 1916-1917. But could have been made at any time after that.
