How to protect young fig tree in winter, zone 7A

Hello, I have a young fig tree that I have transferred from a relative's established tree. I took a piece that has a good root system when I transferred it. I live in zone 7a and we are forecasted to have our first freeze soon. I need help on how to protect my young tree! Thank you!

Once the leaves fall off and it goes dormant. you can bury the whole plant under leaves, mulch, or put a small container over it then mulch all around to keep it asleep.

Honestly, I don't think you even have to protect it if your temps don't freeze the ground. Does your ground freeze there?
