Thanks Patricia....I'm not opposed to puck lighting but my other surrounding cabinets have linear under cabinet lighting. I thought the pucks might look incongruous. Correct me if I'm wrong. BTW, if I go with the strip lighting on the floating shelves, my cabinet maker will route out a channel so it will be flush with the shelf.

Yes, get the channel routed by your cabinet maker. That is what I did and I love the LED in the shelf. I was originally also going to add uplighting to the upper shelf, but ended up doing a can in that location. My shelf is L-shaped, and the led runs through the whole thing.

You can use LED tape lights with a channel and diffuser, and cut the tape and channel to whatever length you want. You can surface-mount the channel or use a router to cut a slot for it.
