I've got some dwarf yellow barberry that bring a bright yellow to the garden in spring that I like. I don't like the stickers on them, but they have their place in the garden and are problem free for me. This is the first I've seen of orange rocket, and I like this color in fall. I'd probably give this one a try if I see if somewhere. It looks good in your yard. Thanks for sharing ..... as if I need more plants to wish for, lol!

I’ve seen these orange rockets on several occasions, but was always hesitant to buy any due to the shocking color. But finding them at 75% off I just couldn’t pass them up lol.

The stickers can be dangerous I agree. My solution is to use this great little telescopic rake for a ‘no touch‘ clean out. I no longer have any fear of them with this handy little tool ☺️ It works great!

I love the colorful barberries but refrain from planting them here in ny after learning that they are NOT sterile. The berries revert to the species which is one of our worst Invasives.

FWIW in 20 years of gardening here with countless Berberis cultivars I have never had even one seedling.

I’ve had 2 seedlings from my Helmond pillars in 10 years. I transplanted one which survived, the other did not. Never from any of my others cultivars, realizing now I have 6 different ones...

I'm not sure I've ever met a barberry I didn't like! Not really an issue here as our summers are too cool to encourage much seed development, if any. And if folks would avoid pruning them into uniform blobs or squared off hedges, then the issue of their thorniness is really a non-issue! The various cultivars of Berberis thunbergii offer a huge range of color as well as shapes and sizes. 'Orange Rocket' is a stunner but I also favor 'Admiration' and 'Concorde' and 'Diabolicum'.

My favorite barberry is an evergreen and also a dwarf: Berberis stenophylla 'Corallina Compacta'. Very compact - works great in a container- small and very tidy foliage and dramatic tangerine-orange flowers in spring. Very showy!!

I love barberries, my favourite is Concorde. If I could get my hands on that orange one I would, it’s stunning!!
