Delbard 'Painters' series

I saw one of these in person this past year, I think it was Alfred Sisley, but it was raining so hard I had to run for cover. I can't remember ever having any Delbard roses but something keeps telling me they are very fussy. Is anyone growing them successfully no spray in the eastern US? Love the look of Marc Chagall.....

No comments? Really? Nobody has Delbard roses? What about Moonlight in Paris? Anyone have that they would comment on?

I guess thst I am not sure which of mine are the actual painter series but I grow Marc Chigall and it quickly became my favorite. It is a nice full Bush but isnt suppossed too get gigantic.

I had Maurice Utillo and it was weird for me very early on

Mine had the thorns from hades. Not sure why but it committef hari kari and I wad glad to see it go

But. I know others that grow it and have never mentioned really nasty thorns. But really early on this rose was just wonky.

I also grow Frida Kahlo, but not sure she is a Delbord but she is s beautiful little rose and Im super happy .

Moonlight in Paris is brand new this summer but she has bloomed hrt sweet little head off. She is finally getting some color

She was basically white and is mow getting those beautiful subtle colors.

    I hope that this helps.

@Beth Hana Beth, this website is not perfect but it can be worked around if you want to do it :) .

From my experience, each file size should be around 1 - 2 MB. When you upload each image, there is a period the image looks not in full color, just wait because it is still uploading, once you see the image has full color, then you can upload a second image and so on.

I think for some reasons the developer here set the file limit for each time the Submit button is clicked is very small so if I try to upload 3 images, it just cancels my upload with no error message.

You can either post 2 images per post or after you post 2 images then if you use a phone, there is a 3 dots (...) at the bottom of your post, click on that 3 dots (...), you will see Edit option which you can edit your post then upload 2 more images. If you use a computer, instead of the 3 dots, you will see Edit with a pencil icon at the bottom of your post, and you can do the same.

Sorry that it's such a hassle but the people here are so great that I put up with the hassle. Helen

@lkayetwvz5 I'm in the Bay Area and don't have a lot of rain so black spot isn't common.

Here are some of the roses from Delbard Painters Collection. I like all of them.

    Alfred Sisley: have, very healthy

    Camille Pissarro: have, ok health

    Claude Monet: wish to have

Edgar Degas: will have from Palatine Roses

Henri Matisse: skip because it has less petals than I would like

    Marc Chagall: have. It's perfect!

    Maurice Utrillo: have, healthy

    Paul Cézanne: wish to have

    Paul Gauguin: have, very healthy

    Helen

@htracyn79 PNW-8B I uploaded Paul Gauguin images in the above post. My garden is small so many times there's no room for me to step back and take a pic of the whole bush. Helen

Helen, your pics looks gorgeous. I’m in love with striped roses and try to add more to my garden. Currently I have Daring Spirit, Maurice Utrillo, Parade Day, & Neil Diamond. I purchased some from Palatine’s, Regan and Edmunds for next season. Happy Planting 😁!

I have really enjoyed my Marc chagrall! I always wanted Claude Monet but it seems it won’t be available in the us unless by some pure luck . Marc has replaced that “need to have “ feeling for me. I really love that rose .

I also have moonlight in Paris and think it’s gorgeous. Really looking forward to it next spring !

Not one of the Painters Series, but definitely a Delbard stripe, Grimaldi is healthy as a horse for me. It's own root and vigorous as all get out. It makes healthy babies, too.

I grew Marc Chagall this year, unfortunately as is typical, Edmunds shipped so late that he didn't get a fair chance to grow, so I can't really judge... however my sense is not a very vigorous grower. I got one bloom late in the season, which was gorgeous. Despite being small and weak, I can report that I didn't see much blackspot despite no spray and extreme blackspot pressure.

Frida Kahlo performed wonderfully for me in her first year. Always in bloom and an ever changing pallete of color. Strong yet well balanced growth. Fingers crossed for winter hardiness. Yes, Weeks rather than Delbard, but hey she's named for an artist and striped!.

This picture was taken in later October when all of her neighbors were covered in blackspot but she has just the tiniest bit of spotting. Her leaves were clean all summer.

I don't have any of the painter series roses, but I do have three Delbard roses and LOVE them.

They're all beautiful, fragrant favourites of mine.

    Mitsouko

La Rose de Molinard--easily the most fragrant rose in my garden. Scent fills the air.

    Your LRDM is breathtaking

I rarely think of which roses are which breeders but will certainly be on 5he lookout for Delbard roses
