Some pics of Strawberry Hills. Its color is beautiful, sometimes light pink, sometimes salmon pink. However, it doesn’t repeat well in my garden, similar as what you described above. I’m not a fan of its fragrance either. I spray neem oil weekly but it still gets blackspot here and there. Its foliage looks nice and shiny.

@htracyn79 PNW-8B - Great to know and thanks for those beautiful pictures. it really shows the sometimes orangey color the pink gets that I liked. How long has yours been in the ground? Mine have only been this past season, so maybe I'll give them another year or two. I noticed her shiny foliage this summer too. Was nice against the flowers.

@mossy44_z7bwa Thanks for the suggestion to give them some more time. Those pictures are beautiful too! I've wanted to try training a rose up a pillar to add height to my garden. Looks perfect with your Strawberry Hill, great job. Will be interesting to see how she does after winter. If she ends up being decently cane hardy, maybe I'll give it a try.

I agree SH is black spot prone. I still grow 2 because I love her fragrance. Her color and her fragrance are unique.

Another pretty pink Austin climber is James Galway. I got him (2) last year and so far more blooms and less black spot. I have moved them a few times and they didnt seem to mind.

@sultry: James Galway is gorgeous. I just got it this summer and it grows very fast, giving a lot of blooms. It’s very healthy too.

@B_zone5b: I planted SH in Summer 2019. I planted against the wall. I should have planted around obelisk. I think it will look better with obelisk trellis since it has a lot of thin long canes. First flush is the one with most blooms for SH in my garden.

I loved the fragrance...absolutely loved it!!! I got rid of mine (even though I loved this rose!!!) because I hate having roses that have floppy canes. Really irked me.

@sultry_jasmine_nights (Florida-9a-ish) Good to know, maybe I'll give mine another year or two and see how they do. Almost all of my roses are covered in yellow leaves with blackspots right now....not sure what to do at this point but ignore it.

I actually have 3 James Galways coming. I read a lot about him being pretty hard and vigorous, and I really like his big geometric looking symmetrical flowers. Hopefully he'll like it here.

@htracyn79 PNW-8B -Great info, I was wondering if the canes would ever get thicker. I planted two along my fence and they seem to weave their arms through it well. I might train the other on an obelisk next year, see if she makes it.

@rosecanadian: I hate that SH has floppy canes too. Sometimes I want to move it and plant it around obelisk but too lazy to do 🤣😂🤣

I really loved this rose , it was definitely a floppy climber type for me . These photos are so beautiful! I think I’ll get it again .

@Stephanie, 9b inland SoCal Wow those photos give me a little hope for my SHs. Beautiful. I think I need to give it a few years and then see what they end up doing. I'll keep working on my soil too. Everything is covered in yellow leaves/blackspot right now so my hope for most of them is low. We'll see what happens next spring/summer
