Lighting decision help

The front entry way. I am going to keep the ribbon sconces. Paint will be a cream color. The upper dome is approx 7 ft wide. 20 feet high

1. Curry & Co Lucien- kinda modern & maybe, unexpected?

46w

59h

2. Elizabeth

35.5w

50h

3. Paris flea market grande

39.5w

41h

Then I will need something in the DR, which is to the right......

Or any other ideas?!?!

All three are beautiful. It's hard to tell what the foyer looks like with just the one photo. Is the dome only over the open foyer section (not over stairs at all)? Is there open area at the top of the stairs (landing around or)? I think the last one would be better suited for the DR. but not sure about the size or your ceiling height.

My sister has the smaller version of #2 and it turned out to be a disappointment. It just doesn’t show up very well. It has no visual weight (is that a term?). The magpie in me loves #3.

The first one doesn’t seem to have any sparkle, and do the candles look short?

Of the three, I’d probably go with the last one. But I think there are prettier options out there.

I like the first one. I like the height, and I also like the design -- it's simple and ornate at the same time, a modernized version of a traditional chandelier, which would set the tone nicely at the entry for the rest of the house.

Not sure how big the dining room is or what you're planning for a table, but you might want something that works with the one in the front entry but is more horizontal, something like Nottaway. I think something like Apollo could also be gorgeous in a dining room like yours.

omg I just found out they are now doing Saxon in rattan, 60" diameter. That seems very southern, Furlow Gatewood to me lol.

I think it's hard to go wrong with Currey & Co lighting. We have two of their fixtures in our new house, one over the dining table (Rainforest, looks like a large branch, which I don't think is available anymore) and another in the round sitting area off the living room (Treetop) and they are my favorite fixtures in the house.

Also, that dining room is just beautiful.

bbstx, no, ours is Currey & Co's Rainforest,

Iron and no bling. We live on a farm in Alberta and wanted to bring the outside in.

What a perfect choice for your house!

    (sorry to hijack Peppa's thread)

Thanks, bbstx, that's what we thought : ) . I was very lucky that at the time Wayfair Canada was carrying Currey & Company fixtures. Then they moved Currey & Co over to their new luxury site Perigold; I was so sad because I was hoping to get at least one piece of Currey's faux bois furniture for our porch after I could save up a bit, and unlike Wayfair CA, Perigold ships from the US so high shipping fees vs free shipping, PLUS duty charges, sigh.

At the beginning of December I hang mercury glass ornaments from it.

    I think #2 looks dreamy...so elegant.

Your house just makes me swoon. I want to get married there and walk down those stairs in my dress (sigh, I’m already married, so guess that’s out...😂)

Just lovely, Peppa! If you are keeping the sconces, can you find something that relates to those? And what do you plan decor wise, ie do you want to make everything period or inject some modernity? That would drive the lighting choices IMHO.

I just wrote out a long post w pictures & poof! It’s gone

    so frustrating

:( Make shorter with less photos. Too many seem to be a problem.

If I had the beautiful big foyer to light, I'd be sorely tempted to put something unexpected in there like a chihuly chandy... I wish I had the space for one in my house....

Peppa, I feel your pain. That has happened to me entirely too often. I’ll take Allison’s suggestion and try to make my posts shorter and with fewer photos. 🤦🏻‍♀️

if i have a really long, photo heavy, post (all the time!), I compose it in Word first.

Becky, I love your chandelier & dining room!

My DH wants to do crystals & bling in the entry. I’d like to add touches of modern & a bit unexpected. I really like the chain chandelier & thought maybe, it relates to the ribbon sconces?

Love the chandelier from Horchow.......wow, 10k on sale?!?!?

I had thought abt this one for DR- until I saw the price. There’s a bigger, more horizontal one.

Love the rock crystals & unexpected?

    2nd floor landing

Beautiful! I can see why you bought the house! Didn't realize the staircase went up another story. Our staircase is more or less L shaped with an L landing, the chandelier hangs lower (look down on it from above). Have you thought about hanging your new chandelier lower than the current?

    Yes!!

The previous owner took all the chandeliers when it foreclosed. The one there was just to have something there, $50 Lowe’s kitchen table light.

Hes offered to sale me all his crystal chandeliers for 10k. Entry, dining room, living room, powder bath, & master bath. He says they are antiques. I might go look at them- might be a bargain compared .........but Im sure his are more traditional.

The 3rd story will be phase 3 or 4 or 10!!! Haha Theres 2 bedrooms w jack and Jill bath. Small “media room” & craft room. Then another staircase to widows walk/ look out- which is a fabulous room (my DH favorite room in the house). Needs a kitchenette up there to have cocktails on the widows walk. And if someone is staying there, they don’t have to go down 3 floors for a glass of water or coffee.

We found out there’s also an elevator shaft already there.

Well, you should have jumped on that Horchow chandelier when you could have. The sale is over and the price is back up to $14k. HAHAHA. My first car didn’t cost that much, brand-new!!!

His chandeliers might be a bargain. If you start mixing, it's best to be semi-consistent throughout the house.

They very well may be...... just not sure they are my style. But, I can’t afford my style either!

BB, yes!, My first brand new car was 11k, a wonderful Honda Accord coupe that I drove for years. But, i can assure you- you will not see a car on a chain in my house! Unless I start working the streets, and I’m too old & fat for that!, lol
