If do not have gas then induction is, IMO, the best electric option.

BTW, though you say 4-5 years, there are a plethora of posts on here of people saying that and then ending up spending many many more years than that. FWIW, my wife and I planned to be in our previous house for 3-5 years. We just moved out this past spring after 30 years. The house worked for us, we had great neighbors, we could bicycle to the grocery and a few places to eat...

The only downside is that some of your current cookware might not be magnetic and therefore not work. However, the selection of induction compatible cookware continues to grow, or you could get one of those induction plates if you really must keep a certain piece. Otherwise, induction is excellent. Fast, precise, controllable, and less heat in the house when you're cooking. I had it for 6.5 years, but moved to a new home with gas and miss it greatly.
