My only thought is that maybe the opening is not necessarily there for cleaning purposes but rather for ventilation so pressure doesn’t build up between the glass....I don’t know. But fascinating none the less and cleaning freaks will love it!

Wow thank you! I never knew this. With my previous range, I used to make my husband disassemble the overn door so I could clean it.

That sound you all hear is everyone jumping up from their iPads and laptops and running to check if their oven doors have a similar slot!!! OMG!!!!! This is about as exciting as finding those little cardboard push ins that are at the end of aluminum foil and plastic wrap boxes. WHO KNEW??????

Mine doesn't have that, but the door does slide off easily which makes disassembly pretty easy.

My oven has holes about 2” wide across the bottom, not one big one.

(And I just ran to my kitchen to check - sure enough there they are.) And just last week I dropped the roll of Reynolds Wrap, which unrolled about 15 feet, never to be rolled up smoothly again. Those little push-ins are a game changer!

Some (not all) of the wrap boxes have a printed instruction on the ends or elsewhere advising to press the tabs to secure the roll. No one reads instructions, of course. :-)
