Quartz for bathroom

Is it common for a general contractor to order a slab of quartz and not give you a quote? We keep getting promised it will be for a "good price" but has not given us a price. How do you not know the price when it is ordered?

Slab costs are not a secret. Go to a yard in your area and educate yourself on prices.

You should at least know the brand and the style. Silestone in Calcutta Gold. Cambria in Ironsbridge etc.

No, that is not common. He definitely needs to have you choose the color and give an actual quote for you to sign. There are knock off colors from lesser companies, so get it in writing what you are getting.

So, we had a rough allowance but I wanted to know my actual price after picking it out. I picked out quartz from MSI showroom and they couldn't give me a price, I have to get it from my fabricators. I guess it's unrealistic to get a ballpark price of the quartz I have on hold. I just wanted to make sure we weren't getting ripped off...
