Backsplash questions

Hi,

Complete newbie here and just exploring. I'm planning on moving sometime soon to an apartment building I know well so am very familiar with the kitchen layout/floorplans and have been reading the posts about Dekton as a countertop. In the middle of a ton of pre-planning.

I, sort of, fell in love with one of the Dekton colors as a possible backsplash (Milar) and have a few questions:

1) Is using Dekton as a backsplash a bad idea? I know there will have to be places where a fabricator will have to cut openings in it to accommodate electrical outlets. Is there another material that's easier to work with?

2) Is using Dekton as a backsplash insanely pricer (I know that's relative) but roughly what will I be looking at?

3) I know I want a dark gray backplash that's not solid. Anybody have any alternatives that are functional and look, at least sort of, like Milar?

Many thanks in advance!
