You and I have a lot in common - except I love the built-in soap dispenser at my cleanup sink (don't have/want one at the prep sink), and I love having pendants in front of my windows - but no pendants over the table or sink.

Other out-of-the-ordinary loves:

• My appliance garage. Many people seem to think they're "dated", but mine hides a cadre of small black appliances (coffee maker, grinder, electric kettle, and soda stream) that would look cluttered otherwise.
• My corner storage: two base super Susan cabinets and one upper easy-reach. I considered lots of options - even closing them off - and I can't imagine not having that cavernous yet easily accessible storage!

What do I loathe?

• Potfillers
• Most granites, except honed black, and the rare unique colors like cpartist's gorgeous slab. I loathe multi-color granite with stone backsplash tile even more.
• Work areas or cooking appliances adjacent to traffic aisles. (This is probably not out of the ordinary, but I'm amazed how many kitchens I see that have a cooktop, range, or oven right next to an entry pathway.)

Love custom drawer dividers for silverware and utensils (loathe the off-the-shelf ones that don’t fit).

Loathe corner pantry closets, especially if they break up the best work space, and especially if they are adjacent to something tall on only one side.
Also loathe upper cabinet doors on the same wall that are noticeably different widths.

Love:

- Walk-in pantries

- Pegboard in walk-in pantries

- Pendant lights, especially stained glass

- Built in countertop soap dispensers

- Ice makers and water dispensers in the refrigerator door

- Pot fillers

- Built in, planned spot for a fire extinguisher

- Double or triple windows over large sinks, especially if they're bay windows

- Large farmhouse sinks

Loathe:

- White subway tile

- Prep sinks

- Cabinets that don't go to the ceiling

- Mismatched cabinets

- Trash cans contained in cabinets

- Custom drawer dividers that lock you into one configuration

- Black appliances

Love:
Wood cabinets
Simple countertops
White and handmade subway tiles
Black or stainless appliances
Refrigerator with water and ice on door
Cast iron sinks
Large windows

Loathe:
White cabinets
Busy countertops
Gray flooring
Glass mosaic tile backsplash
White appliances
Backsplash that is the same as countertop
