the droopiness of the lower leaves gives me the impression of being severely underwatered .... how heavy is the pot ...

how long ago did you buy it ...

i would just cut off the yellow one ... and hope no more do the same ...

is the plant severely root bound.. in its pot??

The stripes are normal. Nothing of concern. The yellow leaves and drooping looks like a watering issue, whether under or over we can't tell from pictures.

Thank you both! I think we have both under and overwatered it in the couple months we’ve had it. I was underwatering it, my husband jumped in to help but I didn’t know so we were both watering it. Now we test with the soil meter before watering. What causes those stripes? Not some sap sucking pest?

I’m not sure if it’s root bound - my plan was to wait until spring to repot it. The pot is pretty heavy, though. Doesn’t feel airy like root bound plants I’ve bought before. Holds moisture for a good while.

The plant itself causes those stripes. They’re just natural markings. Try to learn to judge soil moisture yourself. Feel the weight of the pot. Stick your finger deep into the soil. Look underneath the pot. Moisture metres are notoriously inaccurate.
