I knew you would find something pretty if you looked again! I especially like the hosta leaf with green in it, the Judd viburnum and the helleborus. I don't have any hellebores. I think I need to get one (at least)!

newhostalady..thanks!..I would try a helleborus if I were you..I love them..and they spread..a few more pics from today..another batch of helleborus..and 2 epimedium clumps..epimediums have been a good plant for me too..

I didn't realize the hellebores have such nice leaves. During my neighborhood walks I saw a clump of hellebores in bloom and looking so pretty. What color are yours? I'll see if I can find the picture.

Epimediums seem to be a tough plant. I have three different ones (I think). I wanted to try to see if I could see the differences between them. That's when I discovered how pretty the flowers were. There are so many colors and variations available!

Here are the flowers of one of my epimediums:

my hellebores start blooming before the new leaves are growing..in the pics with blooms the leaves have gone through the winter and look ratty..but after I clip off the tattered leaves and the new leaves come in they're beautiful..I have several colors..not sure how many varieties..the same with epimediums..I have white, yellow and pink epimediums..I have several tags for hellebores and for epimediums..posting these pics makes me long for spring..

I do have lots of hellebores..in the pic of the Autumn fern in the post (#5) you can see small hellebores coming up by the hydrangea..I never planted any hellebores in that area..they're volunteers from across the way..you can see a glimpse of them on the right side of the pic..the green at the top of that pic is pachysandra..

I had another look at the Autumn Fern picture, and I do see little hellebores! That's cool. Someone gave me a couple of epimediums along with some baby hellebores a couple of years ago. The babies never made it.

I had another look at my epimediums. I remember a lady gave me a yellow and an orange flowering one she said. I also bought two others. I tried to take photos of the flowers to see if I could tell which plant was which. So I was able to get flower pictures of two of the varieties. I have to wonder if I missed getting flower pictures of the other two or whether they even flowered. I, for sure, don't recall seeing a "yellow" one. What I have noticed is that the leaves look different, even now. One of them stands out more (epimedium rubrum) than the others. Did you, nicholsworth, notice that the leaves are different? The leaves of your white one are pretty.

I looked for pics of blooming epimediums but couldn't find any but white..it does seem that the leaves can vary..some are round and others elongated..my epimediums don't have as many blooms as I'd like..but I love the foliage..

The leaves are pretty! And the plant is either deciduous or evergreen. They are green for a very long time which makes it a definite asset.

I have two Hellebores and neither was doing well. Someone said they did better in some sun. I them moved and they have improved to the point of blooming for me and growing nice new leaves in September.

utog..you have blooms in November..will they rebloom in early spring too?..I'm confused about the cycle of hellebores..

this pic was taken March 13 2020..you can see I haven't removed the tattered winter leaves..I didn't notice when the buds appeared (maybe Feb?)..or the day the blooms opened..my other hellebore bloom pics were taken after this one..

debra..when did yours bloom?..late winter/early spring like mine?..
