Our basement has low ceilings, which are made of wood. We definitely want to change out the floor to a stain/water/scratch resistant wood vinyl (we have kids).

The question is – do we keep the ceiling as-is, install a floor color that is very similar, and just break up the wood on wood on wood with rugs and furniture? Or white wash the ceiling and do a brown/gray rustic floor? We do have a lot of light in the basement, as it is a walkout with windows and a glass slider. Thoughts?
