IMO wood look tiles have had their day and really never fooled anytone. Where is the flooring going that is the first question To me both look like a really poor job od refinishing an old wood floor. Is taht the look you are after? IMO a much better choice both for knees and backs and look is vinyl tiles like Coretech or Mannington . if you really want help you need to post pics of the space it is going into and alot more about your style.BTW I never get in the middle of this kind I just state my opinion on both sides.

I like a distressed look, but these are.... fake looking. Also, I don't care for the grout color in the first and third photo. Finally, the photo with the hair salon----I don't think they laid those tiles correctly.

If it were me, I'd choose LVP. Then at least you lose the grout.

They’re very similar. But of the two. Go with the first. I have to say I agree that there are better flooring options. Nothing to do with tile or not, but it’s all a matter of option obviously. I would love a whiter wood

Not trying to be rude, but none of them. As Dana said, a natural color would be much better! There's way too much going on in those floors.

No to both. I don’t like wood-look tile, and the gray, striped versions are the worst. I’d look for a porcelain tile that resembles stone instead.

While I don’t think they are terrible, we aren’t going with either. I actually liked the first one but it’s too busy for our space. I hated the 2nd one and thought it was busier than the first but someone disagreed with me. I honestly cannot find a floor I like. I want an 8x48 or close to it and cannot find one. The grays all have green in them and I don’t like them. The browns are too fake looking. We need to find a tile and I’m starting to panic. Lvt is off the table.

The second one is terrible. It looks filthy. If it's meant to emulate weathered wood with something I shall not name smeared across it, it does a decent job...so um yeah it's busier. (The photo of the salon shows a really bad installation pattern if you want it to look like wood.)

The first one...I hate fake wood tile but it's better than most.

Fori....I’m at a loss. I hate 12x24 and 12x12 tiles. I have a large space to fill. It’s a very open floor plan. We aren’t crazy about LVT and we can’t use wood. I found a pretty 10x40 tile but I’m not in love with the size. I honestly don’t know what to do. This flooring will run through the whole house except the bathrooms.

Patricia..,I looked at core tech. They have a stone line and a wood line. What do you think about them? Quality? Wear and tear with pets?

Theres another gray one in both regular and a chevron. I think it would be nice to mix both or them. maybe do the chevron in an entryway or kitchen, and the regular everywhere else

@Beth H. : you have been very helpful!! I I am not a fan of chevrons. Way too busy for me. I do like the wood look. I love a large tile. Less grout lines is the key! Here is my floorplan if it's helpful. I need this for the whole house minus the 3 bathrooms. My cabinets in the kitchen are a blue gray. Kraftmaid Lagoon. I'll attach a picture. The back of my house is all windows. It opens up to the pool.

We had to use LVP in our Florida home. We went with a beachy look. I’m very pleased with it.

We couldn’t do wood, I didn’t want tile as it is too stressful on my joints, certainly not carpet.

LVP was our answer and irs worked for us.

We used Coretec.

@Lisa, I am going to link to a wood-look tile collection that I loved. I saw it at a tile store in Los Angeles, so you would need to find a local distributor. What I loved about this tile was the large planks and the coordinating "decors", which are matching tiles in different shapes. I would have used this tile without question, but the colors they offered were nice, but not the right ones for the furnishings I already own. They might work for you.

the chevron is far less busy than the two wood look tile pics you have in your post.

But, I posted at least 10 different options. only one was the chevron. And, that gray chevron comes in the regular plank style.

Don't know what else to tell you. personally I wouldn't do the Coretec in those selections. I think they're busy looking. (but I can't stand vinyl planks anyway, so there's that)

I'd get the 24x24 or larger tiles.

if you like the wood look so much, why can't you use engineered wood flooring?

First gray is already dated. When you see it in every big box store, you know it's on its way out. Secondly as mentioned, tile that looks like wood hasn't been used in at least 3 years in my area of FL.

Why are you against LVP? And why no engineered wood? Best thing I did was put engineered wood in my house here in SW FL.

Also why are so many houses designed with the kitchen on the inside so they get no natural light. (And no, the windows from the dining area will not reach the kitchen. Ask me how I know.)

I think any wood-look tile, particularly in a gray tone, already looks dated. The ones you showed also look a bit busy and will look even busier in a larger room. I much prefer the Marbelle Greige Beth H. posted (and I LOVE the terrazo, though it tends to be $$$). The Marbelle is clean and modern, but not cold, and ins't pretending to be something it's not.

actually, the terrazzo tile at Tilebar is about 9.50 a sq ft. (wayfair has the same tile under Ivy Hill, and the cost is almost $15)

AZ tile, Marvel in White matte-porcelain. this is beautiful. I'd do this before I'd do a wood look tile, or heaven forbid, a LVP

@Beth H. : Do these tile samples come full size or do they just send you a small square? I like that soft gray plank you posted and I am looking on the website you sent me. The Nolan Gris is pretty too. You've actually got me thinking outside the wood look plank box now, which i what I needed! I have seen so much tile in my day that I have been turned off by certain styles which is my problem. I'll be honest, I'm ready to throw in the towel! It's much harder than I thought it would be.

The Montana line of wood look tiles are also really nice. the key is to find one where you can do minimal grout lines, and one that doesn't have a huge 'pattern' to it. something subtle.
