Was sterling silver leaf or composite silver leaf used?

This is just spectacular! I absolutely love it and want to recreate a similar effect in my bathroom remodel. Did you use real sterling silver sheets or the composite / imitation sheets that are made with aluminum? What did you use to seal it? Thank you!!

I believe they used a 5.5" x 5.5" aluminum sheet for the leafing process. The decorative painter applied a sealer over the wall but we're not sure of the material used.
