You must ask yourself the question of what your foyer needs. You haven't told us where you live. I live in Florida and would never consider a bench in the foyer because there is no functional need for it.

When guests arrive at your home, do they need to set down a purse, remove a coat, take off boots? Do they need to check their image again before they walk into your home?

If I understand your space from the pictures, there are double doors into your home. Currently, you have 2 chairs placed in front of the windows at the sides of the doors. Not sure you need any additional seating in this area.

Whatever you place on the wall opposite the entrance it should be spectacular in appearance. I am recommending a mirror, console table & buffet lamps.

I would take the time to find a very large art piece or pieces for the wall that you indicate stretches up in the foyer so you can take advantage of the height.

Thank you cawaps. yes I agree the 6 foot wide wall is small. I just loved some of these pictures so much I thought maybe I could fit similar pieces but now that you have pointed out, I see.

The guests will need to take their shoes off so we do need seating ( at least 2 ppl at a time) they will need to tAke their coats off which can go in coat closets. They take their purses with them, and I don’t have a need for mirror.

the wall where you are showing tall art in the drawing you shared, is actually mirror-opposite of the left sided wall. So there are identical coat closets on left and right wall.

also in place of green chairs ( I just pulled them here from my kitchen dining area last night) I plan on putting some new smallish chairs or stools. Placing them in front of window like I have is acceptable? Not a design flaw?

I do like the idea of console table and buffet lamps. I agree that stools under it are inconvenient to pull out, though they do look good to me.

i m more drawn to art than mirrors. But I could do either.

in Chicago would you consider a bench with art on wall above ?

Also what do you think of sconces instead of buffet lamps? just throwing in an idea. I have talked about sconces with my husband and he said it should be doable. We will be having electricians over for other work and they can do this too. But I don’t have to have sconces. I thought in some pictures they looked spectacular!

Oak Brook is where I'm from. So I understand your climate. OK so a larger piece of art on the wall you face placed maybe over something more substantial than just a console. Maybe a painted Chinese cabinet.

However, I would consider replacing the two chairs with benches in front of each window. I'm guessing the view through the window of the back of the chairs might not be the most attractive.

ooh these are v large pieces. Will they look good as the space is not too big? Also we don’t really need storage in the foyer. and the piece itself may not go well with the rest of the house, like v heavy furniture. We have kind of transitional touch so far.

Sorry, I had to back through the post to see that you did post the size of the room and the wall. Perhaps the Chinese cabinet is too heavy in that spot.

If the wall is 6ft wide then I think the object, be it bench or table should not be larger than 5ft. The foyer IMO looks a bit..... brown. This space provides the home's first impression and a small bit of drama could be welcome.

Looks like the closet doors have some type of natural material on the face of them. That is why I was suggesting a global style solution. All of these items from Wayfair are not longer than 60". I just Googled Teal X Leg Ottomans for that grouping of small benches in the previous post.

Ok. Yes I like some of these options, the black with gold circles! Yes I don’t like browns myself. We can even get rid of the jute kind of matting on the closet doors. But then I don’t know what else to do with them. Maybe just repaint them, leave as is.

I will also send pictures tomorrow of two options we already have at home. A console and a new thomasville bench frame that needs upholstering so we can choose fabric /color.

My favorite options are 2 and 5 I think either would make great use of the space. I especially like that you are including seating in the area it makes the space really inviting. I really think a small bench with a plant could be a great fit. Some potential artworks that would work with your beige and neutral color tone could be these works by Avaulte artist Bronle Crosby. The first is titled 'Still Waters' and is 36"x26.5".

The second is titled 'Birds Eye View' and is 24"x18".

Either of these above a light blue bench or table (like in the second image you posted) would be beautiful. It was very helpful to read comments here! they have helped me decide that I want a console instead of a bench. Looking back at my inspiration pics, I think the benches are not at the entry way. So a console is a better idea. I have also seen that the pictures I liked have a simple console but what’s on display and the art work On the wall is what’s more eye catching.

I added a few in my cart on Wayfair and perigold. Will sort through them.

i am trying to see what dimensions will look good by using existing items from home. This is looking odd. Is it because it’s too low, the console is only 28 inches tall, compared to 32-35 inch for standard. Also, this is 68 inches against 72 inches wall.

I feel if I go with a less wide like 54 or 50 inches that would look odd too . So maybe 60 inches?

Having a hard time finding because then they are less deep. This is 18 inches but some I find are 15 inches deep, and I don’t know if a lamp would look good on that depth?

Is there a way I can photoshop items in my space before buying them?

Update : the walls will be painted a white color. console and a big piece of art is going on the wall. got the chandelier.

Foyer used to be not very bright , so got the cans changed to brighter, as well as 4000 K.
