IMO art is what you get when a piece speaks to you and you have to have it. I never tell my clients what to buy because I truly beleive if you love a piece it will always work in your space. If all you want is “art” to go with something just go online and find something with the right colors .

I admire Patricia's stance on this and completely agree. Art is so highly subjective and personal to each individual, and I cannot imagine allowing someone else to choose it for me. The stuff on the walls that is chosen because it matches the sofa and rug is, in my opinion, "decor" and doesn't get elevated to the status of "art." (And "art" does not have to be expensive or exclusive either. It just has to be something the owner absolutely loves.)

I am not a professional designer, but if I were, I still don't think I would attempt to choose art for another. I might try to help them develop their own senses and confidence in that area, but that's something that generally takes a good deal of time and experience. It's not an overnight acquisition.

An interior designer most likely supports based on their clients’ needs and their fee - Probably not choosing art itself but making recommendations around galleries/shops (accompanying if needed) and perhaps arranging to borrow the art so they can see in their room. They could also provide links to sites like yours. Are you finding designers are doing this?

If client is confident and knows what they want, they probably take their time to find the right piece on their own but most likely want to view in person.

Art is such a personal thing that I agree it would be difficult to try and pick it out for a client rather then provide recommendations and let them figure out what exactly they desire.

I was just curious because I know many interior designers do advertise art placement as a service and I was wondering what exactly this service entailed? Perhaps It is more about recommending "decor" rather then "art" like Ocotillo said. Or working together with your client by recommending galleries and such. If anyone has had experience using art placement services from an interior designer I'd love to hear about that experience.

I am hoping to find out if interior designers provide links to websites like ours as a way to inspire clients. I'm hoping to understand interior designers process more so we can increase our connections with them and learn from their experiences as well.
