ID Hoya and Care Tips Please

I received this Hoya as a gift from a friend who bought it from the nursery about two months ago. The nursery mislabeled it a Hoya Hindu Rope (which obviously it is not) and I have no clue what type of Hoya this is. My best guess is a Hoya Australis. At first thought, I thought it was a Hoya Obovata but the leaves are not round enough.

Does anyone have any care tips on how to take care of this Hoya? It took a while to acclimate from the nursery to my home conditions. It lost quite a few leaves and many of the stems turned "woody." I also read that the older Hoya stems get woody, is this true? Will these stems continue to grow leaves or should I just cut them?

The plant is currently at a south-west facing window, which gets a lot of indirect sunlight throughout the day. It is in its nursery pot with good drainage. I water it each time the soil looks completely dry and I stick my finger in the soil to check. I occasionally mist it to create a humid effect (not sure if it helps or not).

Overall the plant is doing much better than it was before but I just wanted some tips for the future. Thanks so much for everyone's help!
