Mirror Cut for Frame?

I've been searching for a vanity mirror. I want a simple, real wood framed mirror. The ones available at local big box stores are almost all plastic framed. The wood ones I'm seeing Online are more than I want to spend sight-unseen. So, it occurred to me that I could buy a wooden picture frame and have a mirror cut to fit it. Is this as simple as it sounds? Have you done this? Do local hardware stores/big box hardware stores cut mirrors that are 20/24" - 24/30"? Any suggestions?

Look up glazier in your phone book or online.

Most glaziers will cut mirror to any size or shape you want.

They can attach the appropriate hardware to your frame to hold the mirror.

The other advantage is they will safely deliver it.

They might even hang it for you.

Or go to garage sales or thrift stores.

@tara - I normally would - but between winter and Covid, neither are possibilities in my city right now.

Oooh. Just found out that Lowe’s will cut a mirror (24x30 or smaller) for free! Mirror costs $14.88. For that price, I am happy to do it myself, and add the hardware, etc.!

What a happy coincidence! I have an update. I bought a frame that I really like at an architectural salvage place this morning - for $40. I took it to Lowe’s and had the mirror cut, and bought some glazier points. Here it is hanging in my bedroom. Eventually, when my bathroom is remodeled, it will hang over my new vanity.

@loobab & @maggieq - Thank you! Clearly, I am very pleased with myself. :-) I am in *LOVE* with my new mirror.

Now, I'm struggling with sconce choice! I have chosen a basic style that I like, but so many choices! And so many types of light bulbs, and dimensions within the style!

BTW - the bump out where the mirror is hanging is 60", the same width as the (single sink) vanity that is coming. The painters tape is at vanity height.
