I’m impressed with your LVP id! Yes, fully committed to the vinyl. Lighter could be an option- do you think that would be best? These are our two front runners right now but we’d be open to other ideas- probably more open to lighter than darker

I’m a little worried about how something that light would play with the fireplace. I’ll grab a sample though and see how they look together!

I would go with the lighter of the two. The dark will show all the dust.

Is the fireplace already there or are you putting it in?

If you can find a lighter sample the same tone as the fireplace, I think it would look good with the rug.

I like the darker one better with your brick color. Your choices look similar to the COREtec Carolina Pine LVT in our basement, so I'm probably biased ;) Our basement walls are also brick, but not limewashed. Our non-foundation walls are white so that lightens things up some, but otherwise I kind of like the coziness of a darker floor.

@eld6161 the fireplace is already there. That photo is a picture of the actual brick. Here’s a shot of the room- you can see the beautiful old floor that we’re replacing 😹 (walls are freshly dry walled - not yet painted)

I like the darker of the two with your fireplace. I would not go really light with LVT due to environmental staining (yellowing) of light colors.

I'd go even darker, almost black or charcoal.

sarah, have you thought about redoing the fireplace? maybe just doing a solid white? (or black) and then adding a nice wood mantel? In doing this, you eliminate the gray from the equation.

just for instance,,if you did a nice black, walnut or similar mantel (not this high of course) and the lighter oak color floors w/the white walls:

or just the full on white w/the thick beam and a white quartz or marble hearth

btw, wrapping the insert area w/black slate tile, and then covering the brick w/the white tongue and groove, maybe cement tile on the hearth, natural color floors, also looks great

I’m with Beth H. on this one and I’m not normally a “paint the brick” person but in your case O think the white brick would look great with your other choices. It would give you far more leeway on the rest of the room as far as colors go. The black is nice too but it depends on what kind of style you’re aiming for.

This poll is cracking me up! It's right at 50/50. We actually just recently whitewashed the fireplace so we want to keep it! I LOVE your room with the black fireplace though, @Beth H. :! So chic.

if you're happy w/your whitewash, that's fine too. but just know you can always even it out to one solid color too.

I think this look would be fantastic for your space. then you could choose the darker floor you like

if you did a reclaimed wood beam (or any wood beam) mantel, I think it would help to tie in the wood-look flooring your want to do. Just stain it the same color as the floor you choose.

Oh darn! Haha I thought it was! Yes we’re very happy with it. We wanted to keep some of the brick color showing through.
