Quartzite reveal!

I wanted to share my new countertops with the group. When searching for mine I read every thread a few times and looked at thousands of photos. I hope these might help someone. I would also especially like to thank @karin_mt who kindly educates us all about quartzite and replied to me when I messaged her directly with some questions.

This is called Platinum Quartzite. It is from Brazil. It is polished. It is extremely dense, no scratching or etching (I tested before) but is porous in some areas and so was sealed (in the holes as well) with DryTreat StainProof.

The kitchen is five years old but had honed quartz countertops that I have dreamed of replacing since I moved in. The cabinets are close to SW Pure White, from the cabinet company. The backsplash is a slightly irregular, slightly elongated ceramic subway with a light drag grout. The lights are all 4000k (😂). Lanterns are Visual Comfort Darlana in iron. Faucet is Brizo Artesso in chrome.

    Hi Barbara

Your kitchen looks amazing. I too chose a quartzite called Platinum. I'm in the process now of remodeling my kitchen and have a few backslashes picked out. My top choice is a Cle` Tile called weathered white. The thickness of the tile makes me a little nervous, would you please share you tile choice with me?

    Thanks,

    Victoria

I unfortunately don’t have a link as we didn’t change the backsplash, only the counter. It is a 3x12 ceramic tile. The white is similar to SW Pure White which is what we used on our trim. It has an irregular hand finished kind of border, similar to the Alys Edwards Tongue in Chic collection. Silverado grout. It was very inexpensive (maybe $3/sqft?). I have seen pictures of what you have chosen and it is really beautiful!

Thank you for your quick reply! I will search the Alys Edwards Tongue and see if it leads me anywhere. I appreciate the help :)

Barbara thanks for posting this! I’m overthinking and driving myself nuts trying to decide on countertops! Platinum and Aurora White are two contenders. Totally different but I kind of like both.
I love Imperial Danby marble but there’s so much discussion about upkeep. My current granite has held up so well and I’m concerned my choice will have problems. Sounds like you have a good slab! Have you been happy with them still? Thanks for any input.

Your kitchen is gorgeous! I am having the light version of this quartzite installed in my new house. Can you tell me more about the sealant you used? I am scared of etching.

I have a few specific questions about your range hood insert and custom wood hood. Is the insert a thermador? What are the width and depth of the wooden hood dimensions? Thank you. Our cabinet maker is making our wooden hood 54" for the thermador vcin48gws insert. The insert itself is only 45.75" so we are questioning why the wooden hood is so wide?
