MSI Calacatta laza

My island will need 2 slabs (11+ feet). Was thinking Calacatta Bruno - can't find, or Laza. I spoke to a fabricator who has had so many problems with MSI (assuming at least with white stone), that he will not install, unless I sign a (? - liability) waiver of some type. He has tried to get replacement slabs from MSI & they refuse. The multiple slabs he had used from them were from the same lot. The problem is when slabs are seamed together, they are different colors. He showed me a picture. One slab was white, the other had a darker tint. Definitely noticeable. Looked like teeth, one side used whitening stop other side was coffee stained. Horrible. No other fabricator has said a word about this. I am scared to death to make such a huge purchased, have it mismatched & MSI will not resolve.

I don't see any other colors/brands quartz I like. (I do like Dekton $$$$, & yes, Formica - but the seams are black).

I'm in NoVa (Northern Virginia).

Anybody in this area have color issues at seams with this?

I would ask to see the slabs before they are cut and ask the fabricator to check that issue. The fabricator I worked with was accommodating enough to facetime me and show me the two slabs.

I have calacatta laza on my home bar, waterfall island with mitered edge. It’s perfect, no issues whatsoever, and we have lots of parties, spill lots of wine and whatever, over 2.5 years now.

We recently had MSI Calacatta Laza installed also. Mitered edge waterfall cut from a second slab and no issues with the white base or pattern matching.

Did you end up using Laza for your island? I'm in the same boat- 13 ft island so I will have a seam. Could you post a picture of what you used? I'd love to see how it turned out. This seam is making me nervous!!! Thank you!

Dont do it! The seam will be noticeable!! Wish I had been warned!

Hi Everyone! For those of you that installed Laza Countertops, have there been any negative experiences with the countertop? I love the Laza but there are so many negative discussions about MSI and the quality of their quartz so I am thinking to stay away... any feedback would be helpful! Thanks!

We are in Herndon/Reston. Who did your quartz? How did the seam turn out?

@Steve, I'm not the OP, but am also in Reston - just had TR Granite out to measure (waiting on quote) and now getting concerned about the seam (as well as the veins switching direction at the peninsula...).

We went to msi yesterday and big difference in old and new laza. Do not like the new version. Lines and not sharp and brownish coloring missing. Laza can be bookmatched at the peninsula if you like that look.

They said it was not discontinued. So for now, yes.. old and new are manufactured in different countries.

I got the old Laza and paid more. There’s a huge difference.
