To hang pictures or not?

We have a wall in our master bedroom that I’m trying to decide whether I should hang three photos (taped off in pictures) or to leave blank. Once I taped off the outline of the frames the room started to feel too busy and kind of felt closed in with something on every wall. But I can’t tell if it’s just me used to the blank wall. Should we hang photos on this wall (3 wedding photos in black & white) or not?

*The mirror above makeup vanity will eventually be hung on wall.

** Sorry for poor quality panoramic pictures, haha!

This room is a work in progress, so any other suggestions are welcomed and appreciated! Thank you!

A later photo makes vertical shapes [of windows and 2 pieces above bed].... I wonder about a subtle landscape canvas on wall, hung horizontally... or circular.

If you pick a few, maybe he'd like to voice his choice. Is there a travel destination you both like seeing?

Coincidentally called Love Vigil - a lumbar pillow with a color on bed too ?

Smart move on your part to "tape" you framed pictures to the wall. I think they would be great for that wall. Sizes and quantity seem to fit perfectly.

Idk how dressed up curtain fabric is... but mirror has glam, so pillow might best be a bit also. But whimsy with bikes .. a little sheen.

I would skip the photos and put a plant somewhere.

All blue and blue-grey would be for serene look... you're adding textures also which prevents blah... like the jewelry-type mirror, etc....?

and pillow whatever kind you like...

Thank you so much for all the feedback!! I really like your suggestions. I’ve actually been searching for a lumbar pillow for the bed, something with a pop of color or pattern. I love that silver pillow & the blue stripey one you posted! The curtains are a creamy white/light ivory color that are velvet fabric.

Do you think art would be better than a landscape photo? I can try to see if we have any landscape photos from our travels

This is the wedding photo I was going to hang that kind of had a landscape background but I didn’t think the reds/oranges from leaves would jive with the blue walls.

Besides the obvious sentimental value ! -- it shows nice shapes in the trees and boulders... if you want to play with altering it, you could make it a soft-muted like a color you like to use in accessories in the room.... it'd look maybe dusky/ twilight... so idk. Frame maybe a silvery not gaudy, to please ya both.

Might be worth trying same size...or about the same size for 3 as you'd taped, with 1 - 2 very plain abstract / 1 - 2 wedding photos.

Grabbed a color with gold.... you might like another than black on chair. They sell covers, and possibly it could tie in, if you kept wedding photo as is... But as on my cameraphone, you can decrease the saturation, and that might be better, as you said.

If mine, I'd cover the dark chair, seen against white/mirror.

Says red, doesn't look like it... the colors aren't best, and it's plain, cotton duck.

too much vertical with the curtains and with the pictures above the bed. replace with your trio arrangement perhaps. also, some sheers can help disguise the not so big windows and hide the blue that pops out on top and between.

also, instead of splitting the curtains in both sides of each window, try gathering them only at the corners of the room.

You definitely need more art in this room!

    I tried

another try...of course, your original wouldn't it work in the hall?

"spot color" shows yellows of leaves, your hair, etc...

Deb, that’s what I was thinking too. If these wedding photos don’t work in the bedroom as black and white then maybe they’d be good for above the credenza in the hall. :)

Everdez, I really like the abstract picture with the yellow in it! I also need to get a whole new chair for my vanity

    I can delete...

nice can change them... I think soft pattern could be nice without any nearby,... this as a dress, and her round necklace is the mirror above... ;)

I’m at home goods and buying an abstract photo now. I’ll send a pic when I get home to get your thoughts!

So I bought a new floor length mirror for next to the dresser to replace the little one that was there. It has a silver/gold finish. It actually matches the round mirror over the makeup vanity & the Mercury lamps on the nightstands.

I also bought this abstract piece of art. It also has gold accents & kind of ties in to the mirror & lamp finishes.

I bought this lumbar pillow on the bed too, but I’m not sure if it’s quite right.

    Thoughts?

Textures, sheen... and what it looks like in person is what matters... were both mirrors for same room?

what happened to adding color, even with inexpensive lumbar pillow... but new chair and more will keep it going... :)

I thought adding gold accents would count as a color, lol. I struggle haha. Yeah, both mirrors would be for this room. I wanted a full length mirror for dressing and a round mirror at the vanity for me to do my hair. I agree I need an interesting vanity chair and pillow. The lumbar pillow I bought has a pattern that has a sheen to it, but I don’t think it’s interesting enough. Need something that pops more. I think I need something for the accent chair too maybe a lumbar pillow or different throw blanket. The next task will be figuring out what to do with the dresser top 🤦🏻‍♀️

I like your furnishings so far. My thought is that because of your wall hanging above the bed (cute!), I think you were on the right track with wedding pic on other wall to personalize the room. I would do one pic in a larger mat and frame rather than the series of 3, but your wedding picture is beautiful and I'd definitely pick that over the generic abstract canvas. With an ivory mat and black frame, I think the pic and the pretty fall colors would be perfect!

Your photos showed in my feed finally.... you've added and like it! bedrooms should be comfortable, mirrors, photos...layered-blue art is fine... in person, you experience shine of table lamps, and art frame... I do think the darker grey if dark is a bit 'heavy' not sure..

Against blue shams, I think blue with no added sheen could be best... unless a bit is edited out, so there's not too much ..?

Your bed area has simple shapes -headboard 'slats' and script, so maybe just a bit of shape or texture - this might have soft fabric, and quilted type like bedding's vibe? silver/aqua on chair?

Thank you for all these suggestion!! I removed the throw from the accent chair because it didn’t look right next to the painting. The blues/grays were slightly different but not in a good way. I think that chair needs a pop. I was going to put a floor lamp behind the chair to hang over it and a tiny little table for a coffee/book. Do you think that would look too busy?
