That sounds BEAUTIFUL!! It’s hard to say without seeing it. I’m imagining a white subway tile. But the type that looks handmade with a black rim around each tile. What do you think of that?

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. We are pre-construction so no pix. I am feeling the neutrality of white subway tiles, but want to do a contrast tile behind the range and hood. Wondering if that's still "a thing" or will date the kitchen?
