white wash fireplace?

Hello, I’m putting up some barn siding/ shiplap around my fireplace with a wood stove . Currently debating on white washing the brick . For now I plan to keep the wood natural color. I’m thinking a very light white wash so you can still see some of the bricks color. I’m torn because it seems like normal brick isn’t really in style. Thanks

Finish your paneling job. Then sit back and see how it looks...and how you like it. Are you going to have a mantle? Put that up, too. Does it really matter if it is or is not in “style”? If you like it, keep the brick its natural color. Remember...once you white wash it, there is no going back. Wait and see...

Sounds good! I will have a mantle a darker like edge oak. Still in debate on paneling color as well hah. That was my concern is once it’s there it’s staying. Was hoping to decide before I finished paneling as it would be easier but I think it’ll help me visualize more

I agree- finish everything first. But I personally hate red brick. Maybe because I grew up in a brick house that always seemed to "busy" for me. But I really like white washed brick- and that's not a "trend." They've been doing that in the South for ages.
