Kitchen remodel plan ideas

At the beginning stages of kitchen remodel. I love my kitchen layout, but we need to remove some walls to open up this floor of the home since the views out the back window are amazing. We've redone the lighting and appliances. I'm not in love with my cooktop; I do love my oven/micro wall unit but the oven is too small to do something like a turkey so was thinking of adding a range and a real hood. The kitchen sink is my favorite thing about the kitchen so plan on keeping that. Looking for ideas of a line kitchen with island maybe? Or keep the middle island and have two lines? A couple of budget considerations: would like to keep the sink where it's at, and keep the wood floor in the other room. We do need to add a dumb waiter next to the fridge in the wood floor room (the kitchen is on the second floor....) We've already ripped out the counter top and getting ready to demo the cabinets and walls. Any and all ideas are welcome!

Without knowing how many walls you are wanting to remove in the kitchen area (all of them? a portion? the closet too thats shown in the blueprints? or is that even there?) Its hard to give ideas. If you are planning to remove all of the interior walls, as well as the archway that would be helpful information to have.

In my opinion removing all of the walls between the kitchen, dining, living and that archway would be the best option. I also think that removing the short walls on either side of your sink wall would open it up.

The most difficult thing is going to be transitioning your flooring. If its at all possible to find a match to the flooring in the rest of the house (depending on how old it is) that would be best, but if not then the layout of your islands/ cabinetry must compliment the flooring transition.

Will the flooring in the DR/ LR be staying as is or could that change?

Agreed that the more walls remove the better. Your house has a lot of light coming in and that’s a huge plus!! I also agree that the flooring should be matched. It looks like it’s not too old and the stain shouldn’t be hard to find. Regarding the style of he finishes and everything. What is the style your after? Because this home has a very rich tradition feel to it. I love the arch between the kitchen and dining room and if your leaving any wall it should be that one. It’s soo pretty and adds so much character

Totally got you! Thing is if removing the wall with the micro... you will need to remove the arch as it stops with the wall. Unfortunately!! 😭lol. You can extend the arch if you like it tho.
    Cool story!!
I’m really excited for this project btw!! This house has such magnificent bones. Love it

In removing the whole wall, you will be removing space for the vertical elements--wall ovens and pantry. You can move the sink to a large island, and put the cooktop/range in the upper right. If you need the cooktop and ovens separated, an under-counter oven could be installed between the cooktop and fridge. MW in drawer on that wall, or in island across from fridge. You'd have space for pantry cabinets on the existing wall.

If there is enough space, the MW could go in a between the fridge and window (I can't read any of the measurements):

Hi! I have the same exact 80s cabinets and we are refacing them in January. Ours are really solid, made by custom wood products company.

With refacing, they remove the entire door front and replace with any new doors you choose. They also cover the existing boxes with veneer to match.

If your boxes are solid you may want to look into it 😊
    Best of luck!

Sorry about the measurements not be legible- the kitchen wall with the fridge from the window next to the fridge to the wall with the arch is 13'4". Continuing down the wall, the next room has 11'6" with a window in the middle. The front room (with wood floor, next to the refrigerator) has 15'2" with two windows on that wall- the first window close-est to the fridge or near it will be where the dumbwaiter needs to come up. I'll try posting another photo with clearer dimensions.

Boxes are solid, but just new door and drawer fronts is running me $11K. If we redo the entire kitchen, new cabinet estimate is $15K. To me, that's worth getting my dream kitchen layout and opening up the floor so I can see my view. (Husband and myself are doing the demo and the floors and backsplash, so only need to hire out for cabinets and countertop and if we change where lighting or plumbing are.) Posting the photo so you can get an idea of what the view out my back window looks like and why I want to remove those walls.
