New color for bedroom walls

last modified: 5 years ago

I have purchased new bedding and need to change the bedroom wall color. Currently it is SW Whole Wheat with SW Believable Buff in the coffered ceiling inset. The new bedding is taupe and a very light grey background. The quilted coverlet and quilted shams are a seafoam green in color. Those things are staying. The furniture placement is staying as is. The lamps are also staying. I am open to any suggestions. Thanks!

    HI, Sluggo,

I just discovered this myself (the hard way) and thought you may agree - your sea foam pillows may look better when stuffed (less flat).

Hi Sluggo- looking forward to your room transformation. You have a beautiful huge room. Where did you get your wreath? :)

Maureen, Sea Salt by SW is one of the paint cards I picked up as well as Worldly Gray, Amazing Gray, Realist Beige, and Diverse Beige. I am not sure if I would tire of the Sea Salt. Seafoam is an accent color throughout my house so I do really like it.

gingergr, the quilted shams have queen pillows in them and they are a pretty tight fit. If you know how I could make them look fuller, please let me know. I have them positioned behind the shams that match the duvet/comforter today. Tomorrow they may be in front of them. Still working the pillow positioning out.

Parker, yes, the room is big and the wall that the dresser is on looks so bare in the photo. I am in need of something on that wall and have no clue as to what should go there. I bought the wreath about three or four years ago I think at JoAnn's. It actually photographs better than it looks in reality! I have been looking for something bigger but with no luck.

Mary, I remember thinking when I saw your furniture that the color was close to mine and from that I had an idea what the comforter would look like with my furniture.

You have lovely furniture. Are you considering replacing the carpet? Have you considered a light silvery-gray paint? I think that would go nicely with the bedding. If not pale silvery- gray, how about a pale version of the coverlet color? I would add draperies to coordinate with the walls and bedding, too.

Get drapes to match close to walls. Do u need a suite chair or bench. Pictures of u as a couple.

SW Sea Salt is a gorgeous chameleon and would be a good choice. If you want the walls more neutral, match the lightest silvery gray in your bedding.

Look in your closet at the clothes color you LOVE. With that in mind, see if any of those color families would enhance your bedding and furnishings.

I thought of Sea Salt too when I read your post. You might also look at dove white BM. Good luck!

I agree with a color similar to your quilted coverlet (sea foam). A light blue green will also compliment your darker ,warm toned bed and nightstands just lovely.

Oh, SLuggo, your room is lovely. I don't know why I was being so picky. Sorry! I wasn't referring to the shams that match the bedspread but the other solid colored two. But I see now you tried them in back, in which case it wouldn't really matter. I'm so happy for you to be re-doing your room a bit. I think it always brightens the spirits :)

Just wanted to wish you a merry Christmas this year. I know it’s hard. I have been very weepy this Christmas- I lost my son 4 years ago and I swear it is getting harder. Wishing you comfort and peace❤️🎄❄️

Your bedding is lovely! I will follow this thread as I am in the process of redressing my bed and also have dark furniture.

    hi sluggo,

I don't know the size of your bedroom but I would change the orientation of your bed to the other wall and place the chair in front of the tall chest to face bed. Add a rug and new lighting to complete your space.

Thank you, Parker. The same to you. I cannot imagine losing a child. I, too, have been very weepy this month. I ask myself how can it still be so painful after all this time? But it is. My younger son's birthday is today and his children (twins - boy/girl) turned 14 on the 14th. December is a month of great joys and a huge sorrow for me. I am grateful for so much but sometimes I find myself having a pity party and I let myself feel the pain. I've learned that that is the way to get through it.

So sorry for your loss, Sluggo, and you too, Parker. The holidays can be a tough time...

Your bedroom looks so serene and relaxing.

The walls have been painted. I need something for the wall by the chair. The space between the two windows measures 7 1/2 feet. The overall size of the room is 20 feet x 15 feet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It looks very nice ! What color did you end up going with? What about a canvas art of some sort?

Thanks, Mary. I ended up going with SW Diverse Beige. I loved the look of Sea Salt but was afraid I would tire of it and needed more of a neutral. I am thinking of going with a canvas print or even framed art. I was wondering if the picture in the link above would work.
