I still want to hear from someone at Houzz how this could have happened. I had not done anything to my profile or settings. I could not see at all, so I appreciate being told.

When I've logged out of the site and log back back in, the page now offers the possibility to log in through Google or FB (might be a third option? I don't recall.) Could this be the way we sometimes see people's full names?

ETA: I just had a look through my profile settings and noticed a few things I didn't recall in the Advanced Settlings re: follows and notifications. The site might have had an update I missed. There are also fields to indicate social media accounts and what not. Might not be a bad idea to review all these settings periodically in case things get linked automatically.

I didn't do anything unusual, I was waiting in line at the butcher and I looked on my phone at Houzz and there it was. You did get my screenshot, yet? I often look at Houzz on my phone and I don't log in anew to do so.

Today, for this post, my phone shows you a "stillallison0704," but on my laptop is says Allison0704.

Huh, just noticed too that "Trailrunner D's" name on my phone is Nlliatrailrunner.

I've seen slight difference before across platforms but I don't recall seeing someone's full name before.

Like Mtn, names sometimes appear different on my phone than they do on my computer. I would check your info settings and make sure your full name is not listed anywhere. I never use my real/full name on sites such as these.

Tartan, I do not have FB or IG now, and when I did, I never had it connected to my Houzz account.

I changed the allison0704 to stillallison0704 trying to make it get rid of my email address last night. In my settings, my Profile name (for public to see) is "allison0704," so it seems nothing is working right with my account.

Mtn, I received your screenshot yesterday but none today.

You know it was my full name in one place bbstx sent me, but in another it was the URL for my profile which had my full name (I guess because of the email address?). I've saved screenshots of everything both have sent me, and included in my email to Houzz.

Tina, I have never used my full name here, and the only reason I changed (several years ago) to my gmail account for my Houzz email was because I deleted the "allison0704gw" email I had made for here - too many email addresses! But now I've created one just for here. :-/

The same thing happened to me a while ago and I never heard back from Houzz after notifying them about it. I ended up deleting my account.

Allison I went through something similar a few months ago when several of us were having issues logging in or staying logged in. I caught my full name in my own reply to a thread immediately after I posted and deleted my reply. It took me a while to get it straightened out and it did have to do with a second email that I tried to use in an attempt to find a way to log in.

@mtnrdredux_gw that stands for ‘no longer living in Alabama’ nllia. I had to open a new account using a new email address in the past and that is what comes up but I changed the name that shows to Trailrunner D so folks would know it was me. Very convoluted!

Houzz terms of service have paragraph on Data Security. Lot of good that does.

If you had a Houzz account under your real name before GW and Houzz merged, your full name appeared in the url on your profile page because of the merge. Mine was like that for a year. When someone pointed it out to me, I checked a lot of GW profiles and many had their full names in their url.

I PMed Tamara and she didn't seem too concerned that many of us were revealing our identities.

I have not had a house account under my full name.

That is so weird!! How would they ever get your real name (full name)? Spooky. You, of course, know I am not "Tina" and I have a tinam email account, although I do not use it after a certain poster here sent repeated ugly emails. (*rolls eyes*)

Actual emails? Beyond PMs? Dang. That's sick.

As an update to this issue, I just received this today. IMO, it's late to the party.

The link in their email takes you to a Houzz page with a lengthily description... within it, it is dated December 2018. So I do not think my incident had anything to do with the security issue a year before.
