IMO the whole master is over the top size wise and I would never have laundry in my closet . Of course it is blank looking there are no clothes in it. IMO you need a closet design company to design what you need but IMO if resale is ever in your future that closet size IMO would be a huge turn on for most women for sure. I have about 80 pairs of shoes at the moment after getting rid of about 1/2 of mine so that closet would be heaven . I believe the size of the closet is perfect for the rest of the suite size . I happen to love main floor laundry since running up and down the stairs to load and unload is a PITA.

That’s massive. Is it possible to cut the closet in half so that you enter the laundry room between the shower and toilet? The remainder sounds like it would be fine for your (anyone’s) needs.

I think “laundry” may need to be defined. Are we talking hamper for dirty clothes or full wash/dry/fold laundry area?

@Patricia Colwell Consulting - raised 4 kids in a house that could fit into the basement of this one - so I totally agree about it being over the top in size. I do think that a closet company would make it a good investment, especially for resale, but I'm looking to create a design that I can have our contractor build - one of the carpenters on his team is exceptionally good. If I have a plan - they will make it happen.

@ker9 - the main floor has a full laundry room. What I'm thinking about would be for sheets and towels. At least, that's my thought.

@emilyam819 I hadn't thought of that. I'd need to mark off the remaining size of closet space to see how much shelf space there would be usable on the left side. Although I agree with Patricia that the larger closet would add to resale one day.

Are you interested in moving or installing additional plumbing? Sounds like the two of you could be happy with an armoire in the bedroom for your clothing/shoes. Here are two other spots where a stacking W/D for upstairs dirties could work. Leave the huge closet for your storage needs and it will still be in tact for the next owners.

Are you going to hang out upstairs while you wash/dry/fold the upstairs laundry and then hang out downstairs while the other laundry is done?

Check out IKEA’s website. You can design your closet to meet your needs there and then have your contractor build it for you. Good luck!

closet company. when I redid my master, I splurged on the California Closets. They did a beautiful job. (I added the leopard carpet and the quartz counter after they were done)

The designer comes out and looks at your clothes and asks about your style and wardrobe. then she designs it tailored to you. My husband has his own closet in what used to be the old shower/bathroom. This new one is all mine! lol. totally worth hit.

could you do a window? not sure about having laundry in there. I don't think I'd like that.

No laundry in the closet.....you don’t want the humidity or heat to ruin your clothes. The addition of the necessary plumbing can get expensive, too. Your closet is large enough to hold all your hanging clothes, a dresser, shelves for shoes and handbags, and three hampers for sorting dirty items: darks, whites and lights, plus an extra hamper for dry cleaner items. I’d love that closet.

How about a chaise lounge? You can lay tomorrow’s outfit out on it, sit on it to put on your socks, or have someone sit on it while you chat and pick out clothes.
