You can only “gather” four people in that space and the coffee table is blocking traffic if there is a real living room we can’t see. The room will become smaller if the windows are changed to french doors to a porch. More pictures, please.

Instead of the space eating french doors look at sliders that slide over each other almost collapsing Or bifold doors.

I think this looks lovely and like you put a lot of work into it. There might be configurations that allow for more seating but it’s really about whatever works for your family and their needs.

Ah I see it says they are being added! You can always have them open out to the porch as a space saver if you like the look. Keep posting.

You can buy recessed LED light units at HD or Lowes that screw into the existing recessed light. They cost about $7-$10 each. I would replace those can lights with the LED units. They will be much more attractive when the lights are off and will provide much better, lower cost light.

It's a nice transformation especially going from the dark to white paint color. The new color enhances your stair balustrade. Can't tell what is happening with the beam visible in the top photo. If the porch you are adding actually has a roof you can swing the French doors outward. That way they won't eat up as much space. I agree with the poster about the recessed can light trim - white is better than black. Good luck with the rest of your renovation.
