You could be describing little no see'ums, or biting midges. What is your approximate location?

What part of the country do you live in? That makes a big difference.

Are they in the house or outside?

Inside you could be experiencing something like little fruit flies or those little flies that sometime live in houseplants. And, it could be something other than these little flying insects that is bothering you. It could be coincidental.

I have some little black flies that have taken up housekeeping in some houseplants and they circle around my face sometimes and twice this week I have inhaled one of them either in my nose or sucked down with my breath.

Without more information there are no good answers for you.

Those little midges cause me to itch and they seem to go for my ears or behind my ears. It itches. I scratch and get a bit of warm lump. That is only outside in the season.

Allergies to different things happen quickly and are often unexplained.

Just last evening, after a warm shower, the inside of my legs began to itch like crazy! No apparent reason for it. Nothing about anything that I did was any different from any other time, but it seemed like an allergy and it was symmetrical on both legs and no where else.

I experienced something similar to this one time when I was cleaning the laundry room and got exposed to an unexpected cloudburst of old dust that came from somewhere. Within a few minutes I was breaking out with welts on both arms, a bit like what happened yesterday. Yesterday I was back in the laundry room with the vacuum and makes me wonder if there is some connection. It is unlikely to be laundry products since all I use is a bit of detergent and have for a long time the same one.

The bugs and the itch might, just might, be coincidental.

That feeling of an electric shock is the feeling that I get from an ant sting.

I agree that you should inspect for bed bugs or fleas.

Nicole you should try some Benadryl or something like that. That is what relieved my symptoms.

Hi thank you for your responses. I live in Alberta Canada. I can actually see a button here for photos. Whatever is going for my eyes nose and hair and mouth I can't see at all. I see nothing flying but they have to be, right? These tiny black things are all over and bite too. I took some off my bed and clothes and threw them in vinegar and water with sugar and dishsoap, here I'll show the pics

There is no resemblance to bedbugs in the photos, and some resemblance to no-see-ums. However, it seems that by now cold Alberta weather would have killed off any insects coming from outdoors.

...and bedbugs don't fly.

Benadryl is a good choice for the discomfort. If it knocks you out, try the kid sized chewable tablets--you can easily take a smaller dose so you don't feel like a zombie.

Do you have bitemarks (raised bumps or anything) or is it a general everywhere feeling?

Are you sure it's actually insects bugging you? Even though you saw one, it could be something completely different causing the problems.

I'd be checking out my ducts for some sort of crud. Clean/replace the furnace filters. Are you in a single-family building? If not, find out if there is any construction going on in the building. Some people are really sensitive to one of the many types of particle that can get kicked up with demolition or building.

Hi. Yes I do have bites, quite a few especially on my back. It started out as feeling like bites now it feels like stinging. It really hurts and it's shocking. I hate not knowing, I don't know how to fix this. I see nothing flying towards my lights or see anything at my windows.

Sometimes it feels like I have shards of glass in my skin. My dr prescribed me some cream today. This is insane. I can't go anywhere, I'm stuck in my bedroom. My partner sprayed an insecticide, I hope it works.

A local pest control company or exterminator company could identify what bug is giving you such fits. Take a bottle with the bugs for identifying. Those aerosol bug sprays one sets off and then one leaves the building can be effective for killing all the pesky bugs at once. I surely do wish you well in getting them gone.

I agree with others who suggest that what you see flying around you and what is causing you the itch may be unrelated. If you have little things flying around your face, check your houseplants.

I only saw white flecks floating in that water. I thought you said that they were little black bugs. All I see in that water are white flecks of something that does not appear to be bugs.

Is that a small bug in the middle of that photo? It really sounds like you have bed bugs and maybe it should be your focus to find out about what to do about them. Bed bugs get brought in on any number of surfaces.

For goodness sakes, Nicolle, get out of the bedroom if you suspect that it has bed bugs in it! Give it a good google. There is much good information on bed bugs. You should be able to identify them with the proper knowledge. Dont go to bed on that mattress tonight without inspecting it for bugs.

If you are choosing to use an insecticide, it might really be important to use one that targets bedbugs.

Is it just you who has the bites? It seems that all in the house would be affected by these bugs. I have read that is the saliva that they inject that numbs the skin before they feed that people have the reaction too.

The flyings bugs and the bites that you have may not be related.

Lice can be seen. They are not small insects. A doctor that diagnoses lice without seeing a louse is--pardon the expression--full of crap and just trying to get you out of his office.

A random possibility is scabies...google the symptoms. These guys are microscopic.

The fact that you're having a reaction and nobody else is isn't that unusual. Some people are just more sensitive (or even allergic) to certain things. (It could still be a nonbiological agent causing the irritation and only bothering one of you).

Are you saying that those randomly shaped white flecks are bugs that once we're black. and shaped like bugs and are now random white flecks that appear to be flat?

I have never heard of such a thing! And, they certainly dont looks like bugs, at all.

If there were bugs you wouldn't be the only one affected.

I think you are being afflicted with something other than bugs.

Hello, since my last post, I have been seeing my Dr weekly, my symptoms went downhill extremely. I was seeing tiny black dots, sometimes red and white ones too there was the odd peach to orange colored ones. I did extreme amounts of reading on the internet about bugs and diseases . One appointment I asked to be hospitalized. The pain was excruciating. I'd pick the black dots off my bed and clothes and when I'd watch them fall they looked like white lint. My Dr asked me to bring the bugs in, and she would send them off to be analyzed. I have been given a few different creams to help with the rashes and gabapentin for the pain. The bug test came back that they are not bugs. I was stunned. Then wth is biting me and leaving marks. My body was getting worse constantly feeling like I was being shocked on my feet and fingers mostly until it spread throughout my body. I told a friend if this is how I have to live I'd rather die. It's been a nightmare. Since being on gabapentin I can still feel some pain but it's bearable, not like it was. Next step is a skin graph and my Dr would like to do a biopsy but is concerned as I have chronic DVT. I told her I will sit til I stop bleeding I will do anything to find out what is biting me and why I have these symptoms. My partner and I were both online one evening and came across an article and it was so amazing, every symptom it mentioned I have. It was mould. I asked, do.we have mould. I guess there is mould. In a way I felt relief but another part of me thought , why do I feel bugs in my hair at times and my.body. The gabapentin I'm taking is for peripheral neuropathy and I guess it can cause the sensation of bugs crawling on the skin. It's not lice my Dr, partner, and I checked a few different times. I did notice that I would feel worse at nights and could not sleep. My face was being attacked by bugs going in my nose, eyes and mouth, I wasn't eating. I had lost 32 pounds. I didn't want to open my mouth and possibly swallow one of these lint looking things. They are very small, you pretty much only know it's there if you try to get rid of it yourself. We are spraying, AGAIN. I don't have much hope as I've spent quite a bit so far on insecticides and products to get rid of whatever these are. I'm now waiting for calomine lotion and a bug zapper to come. I live in the North where by this time of year it's usually-40. It has been warm here, hardly in the double digits and that's very unusual. It is dropping so I'm happy for that. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. Check for any water leaks from plumbing or from storm water leaking inside causing mold ! If you have it you probably have the same problem we have . They are called thripsand they are very hard to see white specks flat are some the stinging sensation is from some that flick their tail to jump . there are several kinds and they are hell to get rid of.They are a nuisance I believe they are attracted to people with high blood sugar . It is impossible to spray them unless they are crawling on you I use vinegar and to get them out of my ears hydrogen peroxide . If you can cause a draft to the outside when theyare bugging you they will go outside even in winter . Your hives are not from them and I doubt it is spores . I have spent $1500 dollars on insecticides etc. nothing works . Get rid of any mold I had a new roof installed and it was leaking into the walls in a few places The more I get it dried out and the mold gone the less bugs .
