Large empty corner driving me nuts!

Hi, thank you for the help in advance on this, I have this large empty corner in my living room that I can’t figure out what to do with.

It’s about 3’ x 5’, and I haven’t been able to find an end table that looks appropriate in the space. I would like both couches to be able to reach you to set a drink on if possible. I was thinking about switching the plant to the other corner but still not sure what to set in this corner.

I was thinking maybe something like this to go in front of the window but I’m still not sure about the scale and if I like the look of it.

The fig tree can move into the corner if the hanging light fixture permits. I would purchase a larger light-colored ceramic container for the fig tree in its pot.
The missing element in your room is art. Art comes in many forms: paintings (oil, watercolor, reproduction or original, photographic art), and other wall decor.

Have you considered a C-table? The legs slide under the sofa so you have a flat surface to set a drink on, or even use a laptop/tablet.

    Nice space!

    Here is what to do:

    1) Move sofa up so that it meets the arm of the love seat.

    2) Add an end table to each side of love seat

    3) Add table lamps

    4) Nice piece of art instead of mirror.

After that, we'll see where we can use the tree.

Can you show photos of the other walls?

The coffee table should be placed close enough to one of the sofas so it can be used to set down a drink. Then the other sofa needs large end tables on each end. Your current ones are way too small. The hanging fixture would look much better over an end table. Place your sofas and new, larger end tables first, and then figure out where, or whether you want to use, the floor lap and the plant. Adding more small furniture isn't going to work.

@calidesign, I agree! I don’t want any more small furniture, this is just what I have been using. The coffee table as is can be reached from the chairs and the large sofa. The small sofa doesn’t have any end tables as is

Thank you CDR! I am hesitant to move the sofa up because that will create a really large empty space at the other end of the room

That is why I need photos of all 4 walls of room.

However, based on what you say, move both sofas away from the walls. Without more photos and info, I cannot say, but switching the 2 of them might also be in the cards.

I don't know your style, but just showing how much a piece of art can bring the room together.

But, you need to get furniture arranged first!

and here is what I am guessing is more your style.

Additional photos! I have an option for art above the smaller sofa

So you mean pull this sofa out and put a table behind it and then end table on the far end or both ends?

Morgan, what do you mean extra space.....there is no space beyond the sofa. Pull the sofa all the way up till the 2 arms are almost touching.

Are the sofas the same size or is one larger?

Ok! I pulled them out, is this what you were thinking?

Sorry. No photo. Can you show a picture of the other end of the room also? Thanks.

@Morgan Wampler - Are the sofas the same size? - If so, have you tried them across from each other ? Are those the Dune sofa's from Maiden Home?

    Yes!

In the photos, the smaller sofa looks crowded on the current wall. Is there another wall to place it on?

@design girl they aren’t the same size, I’m working with them from my other house. I think one is 75 inch and one is 65

The larger sofa can move back towards the wall some. Then move the shorter one closet to it.

Also, would it be possible to put the shorter sofa directly across from the larger one? So, it's back would be to what I presume is the entrance.

Need photos of all 4 walls please

    I only have three walls

Thanks. Do you need all of that seating?

In an ideal world, I'd like to see a sofa and the 2 chairs ( move 2 chairs where the shorter sofa is). Would that be possible and use the shorter sofa in another room?

Tv hung very high, by the way.

Love those barrel chairs - Where are they from? How large is the console and TV - Could they be swapped with the love seat?

Thank you! They are RobIn Bruce Rothko chairs! Unfortunately because of the outlets and cable hook up the tv will have to stay where it is. I think I will have to stick with the current furniture arrangement and try to find what I can to fit in the corner

Normally, I would agree with the suggestion to pull the sofas out from a wall. However, in this case it doesn’t work. The area behind the sofa is simply not big enough to allow for a walkway or put a console table behind it. Instead you have a gap of a few inches from the wall, which serves no purpose. Push the large sofa back against the wall and look for a larger end table to put between the two sofas.

Seeing the entire room, now and since you have to have all the seating, I would move the blue chairs where the smaller sofa is and place the smaller sofa where the chairs are.

Worth trying to see if you like it.

I found a nice looking console table that’s the width of my smaller sofa but it is only 8inches deep so yes, I don’t think that will move it forward that much. I still have a large empty corner haha🤦‍♀️

Maybe some sort of accent chest like this for example ?

Or set of nesting tables to take up more space?

Since you can't move the TV, I'd try the two chairs on that wall and the love seat where the chairs are now. You can always move them back. Since they aren't as deep as the sofa, they may give you more options.

It seems to me like some stained wood is the missing element in the room, possibly walnut color.

I love your fiddle fig tree! Is that real or faux? If faux, where did you purchase it? Thank you in advance!

Thank you AC LB! It’s real! It’s from Wegmans Grocery Store!

Wow, that’s beautiful. I never see trees like that at wegmans! I’ll have to keep my eyes open this spring!

The TV is too high. It needs to be eye level when seated. Get another pot plant or two to fill in that corner. It’s a lovely room. Calm and peaceful.

Keep your longer sofa on the wall under the mirror, all the way against the wall. Place the smaller sofa closer to the corner so the sofa arm doesn't stick out beyond the wall. It looks like you have room to do that. You can pull it out slightly from the wall so it's connected to the longer sofa and the coffee table if needed. Then just add a large square end table between the two sofas in the corner, under the pendent light.

I actually really like what you have. You have to balance the design with how you will use the space. Move whatever sofa you sit in most while watching tv to the wall across from the tv. Build from there as that is how you will use the room. I don’t think you need to float anything as room not really big enough other than the two awesome chairs.

I love the tree and a table in the corner and I loved the gold drum on the other side of the sofa.

Try a piece of art on the wall in that corner.
