Ideas for replacement tile under shower window?

Hi all, wondering if anyone has ideas for fixing this area of my shower? We downsized the window during our exterior remodel and don’t have it in our budget to retile the whole bathroom anytime soon. Right now we keep a shower curtain over it, but looking for a longer term, but not forever, solution. We will be remodeling this bath eventually, but maybe not for a couple years.
Do we try to match the large tiles and not worry about the cuts not lining up? Do we try to match the accent tiles and fill that whole space? Do we not care if replacement tile matches and paint all of the tile? Any ideas or insight would be so helpful!

What kind of contractor did you hire for this? He really screwed you. You don’t make changes to a window opening in a shower and then just patch it up; the whole shower needs to be redone. And drywall in the shower is a big no-no. This is the “before” picture of your “bathroom mold disaster” scrapbook if you put off what needs to happen for a couple years—or even a couple months. Believe me, there are people on this site who are catastrophize everything. I, however, am not one of those people, so please proceed with that in the back of your mind.

So you’re saying we can’t redgard it, tile, grout and caulk the corners?

Did you do this yourself? Or maybe you hired a window replacement company?

"Install a tension shower rod from wall to wall, and use a shower curtain over the whole wall."

Geez, read the post why don't you?: "Right now we keep a shower curtain over it"

Continue with your shower curtain. No you can't RedGard it. Well, you could, but it wouldn't do you any good.
