The griddle should not be a problem. My previous 48" range was old and had a finicky knob on the griddle. A couple of times I came home to find the griddle had been on for hours after someone accidentally nudged the knob. Although the griddle and surrounding chrome/metal was hot, the area behind the range wasn't.

I would make sure that you only do basic cooking, in smaller pans, on the back burners and leave the high heat and large pans for the front burners.

Is it too late to change to another backsplash material?

I have a Viking range with a back guard and a quartz backsplash, and have never had a problem with scorching. I’m no expert, but would an after market back guard help?

How far along are you on the project? There are many things that can be done but without knowing where you are, we can't know what to suggest.

Wolf makes a riser. I have a 12” tall stainless riser behind my 48” Wolf. I needed it since I have the 4 burners with griddle and grill. The riser on mine will get stained from the griddle.

Hello all and thank you for your comments, I am far along enough where the quartz was bought and paid for and so was the range. I can still buy the riser. Is 5" riser enough? I do not want to sacrafice anything taller since its a verrryy contemporary kitchen.
