Just generally speaking an all white bath seems impractical for kids...also without measurements or pics..i would think the widest vanity and mirror possible would be best.so atleast one side could go against a wall...leaving more room for things on the counter and will be less likely to get knocked onto the floor...nothing really specific can be suggested...without floorplan...plumbing and electrical locations

• Shower will be made larger and be 48 inches as the wall beside the shower, when you first look into the bathroom, is empty space that can be used.

Tile can be slippery when wet...so LVP may be safer ..will be cheaper to buy and install...and will serve well without needing a rug

In any bath a solid wall by the toilet adds a little privacy element...a bigger opening from the shower from the front with curtains instead of glass feels safer in a kids bath...to me

Funny you say that about the wall - I felt a little hesitant removing but it was recommended by the contractor and husband liked the extra few inches it would give.... we wanted to use a shower kit to avoid grout and the extra expense.

Current layout - pretty to scale each square is 12 inches x12 inches.

I know I’m not giving much to go on. Probably why I’m struggling since I’m just choosing stuff randomly.

I’m not too worried about white as the basement is shoes free and kids are pretty clean and tidy. Although more worried about it being a little style less.

I should clarify kids would likely never shower down here - not until they are teenagers and someone convinces me they need to move to the basement (unlikely I’d agree :). The shower will only be used by the odd guest that would stay over. Kids have a bathroom with a tub upstairs and we have an ensuite.

Still like the LVP FLOORING for reasons given..

It comes in lots of pretty light colors...and if you are looking for a more stylish feel the new modern “unfinished wood” vanity styles are nice with LVP floors...they are sort of open and look more like a “table”...if they available that small...it will take it up a level stylewise

As to someone wanting to move to the basement in the future...not knowing any details...they are usually drawn to all the features of a private space of their own...having had 5 brothers ...they always gravitated to the privacy element...

I would add colour with a fun framed print or two, paint and towels. Those are all easily changed out when you want a new look.

I will looo up some LVP floors - I’m not really familiar with it. Non slippery is important - just for kids, and the odd guest would be my parents so older (not so much but enough I don’t want anyway slipping).

I did see a nice locking sort of rustic drift would vaniety on Home Depots site as well so that could go.

I’m glad my choices seem to make sense though! It’s a bit challenging picking something without having a true design inspriation and mainly my goal is to make it functional, economical but bright and enjoyable to use ☺️

Was thinking of blue towels and white plus a night bright art picture maybe with pinks and yellows.

The comment on someone moving down is a bit unlikely - there is a small bedroom but very small enough for a queen bed and a couple night stands for guests. I’m not planning it as a true bedroom as we have 4 bedrooms upstairs and only 2 kids.

Glad you like the LVP floor ideas as they come in strips that look like wood flooring...doesnt show soil or specks and is easy to install...instant result..you can get a color that looks good with the driftwood vanity and have a completely charming custom look ...as to the kids it is not the number it is the age that leads them to wanting their own “separate space”...when they are teens they turn into completely different creatures ....having their own music...tv...and privacy become a treat for everyone

Looks like the tiny corner where the door opens could have a decorative or built in tiny tower to store towels and bath supplies as well

A pale aqua is a perfect color choice for the walls with the driftwood elements...beachy art and white or aqua and white towels would add to the theme and special feel

If you say your style is transitional and you like classic then you've made some nice selections. The vanity is nice and fits the look you are trying to achieve. I disagree with LVP flooring but I just don't like anything plastic or fake that tries to look like something else. I also don't feel it adds any value to a home. I love a hexagon floor tile, but I feel you need some contrast. I love white bathrooms, but there should be some grounding or relief. What about something like this for the floor? Just make sure they don't put the base plate on it. It's not necessary and looks cheap. It's only used when people are trying to cover up the fact that they have 3 holes and bought a single hole faucet. I think the lighting is a bit too modern. It's also going to be glaring with the glass globes and will see dust all the time. I'd select something with white globes - classic and easier to clean and maintain. Lone with what I was hoping. When I was looking at a tiles with patterns but the ones I like are always pricer and while I’ve spent that upstairs I haven’t downstairs. I would like a bit of interest or contrast in the room and because it’s the basement also don’t need to be as safe as the rest of the house since I won’t see it daily.

I’ve looked at the LVP - and while I love the durability we had hard wood throughout the main level and upstairs so I think I’d prefer tile if I can find something also practical and not too slippery.

The shower will be a white kit so this adds some contrast. I like the hexagon for a bit of fun - I wouldn’t likely use it upstairs but felt it a bit different and nice for a basement. This new one seems a bit more classic and is the larger suggested above by someone as well.

I think it's nice. It will give you a bit of relief from the all white. Before doing anything, I would hope you could see it in person first. It's so hard to purchase online if you haven't seen the actual product. If you still want to look for the hexagon, try www.tilebar.com and search for hexagon floor tiles. You can get 5 samples sent to your home for $5.00. It's very easy.

This is such a small space i would try for a less slippery ...more interesting tile...since the rest is already a little generic...and your goal is to upgrade to a more stylish bath...

I ordered a few samples from Home Depot tonight- both the hexagon I showed and the rectangular.

I’m going to pick it up curb side hopefully this weekend - unfortunately our stores are all closed for a lockdown. We are hoping to start the Reno’s beginning of feb., but are in a lockdown until end of January which is why I’m in an odd place trying to pick online.

I’m wondering - how do people feel about sheets for the floor? Giving the room is pretty tiny would more interest be given by a smaller profile of tile (like the current look - but updated?)

Just two that I saw which I like. I’d do a medium grey groute with the white one I think.

Both are nice - I prefer the first one with a bit more interest. It will have a fair amount of grout so something to think about for cleaning. Does it come any larger? I'm putting a 3 inch hex in my kids bath - Reno starting in April.

Larger would be nice! I like the 1st better as well - more interest. I hate groute to be honest... which is why I want a shower kit vs. Fully tiled, but I also know groute helps prevent slip so that’s a plus so it’s a trade off. I’m going to do a little investigation for a slightly larger hex.

Are you changing your toilet? It looks bone in the picture. If toilet is staying bone then the gray will not look right with it.

Yes, everything is being changed and/or painted, toliet needs to go 😁

We are having the electrical outlets all changed as well, as they are also bone.

Look for the new outlets with USB slots on the sides. These days everything charges USB, including my no-touch soap dispenser.

In defense of LVP, I know a mother of three who used it in the bathroom and bedroom of her twins and wished she did it all over. It looks terrific and it’s easy to keep clean. If you prefer tile, then the first mosaic is very classy and traditional and will be a long lasting look. I agree with Design Girl that glass shades are a total pain. I have them in my master bathroom and they look dusty within days. You can add color with a fun shower curtain and towels, which are inexpensive to change.

Picked up my samples - unfortunately a bunch were out of stock after I made the order so not included.

The dark shinny back is 100 percent out - looks like the flooring at a bank I once worked at. Much to financial district for me ☺️ it was suppose to be the 12 x 24 grey looking tile I showed above (just shows how samples are SO important).

I like the small hexagon best - they are ‘mate’ but still a bit shinny and pure white. The larger hex is nice too, with lighter grey groute. It has more of a concrete look and would be nice variation from tile to tile, should have ordered more so if I did want it I’d get a few more samples before fully decision. It appears a bit more industrial in look - not sure how it would look.

Goals - I want a brighter looking bathroom so that’s my only worry with it and like a transitional classic style.

I do Prefer the larger size but haven’t found a middle ground yet. There are larger hex with a marble look but out of budget. Haven’t found an economical
One yet.

I don't like the large black and I don't care for the black and white. I like the marble look hexagon and I like the larger gray hexagon. Do you have access to a Daltile in Canada? They have nice 12 x 24 in a carrara look a like which is reasonable. It's called Marble Attache Lavish and comes in polished and matte. I do like like both the choices you have above.

I’ll check out to see if we have Daltile - there was a 12 x 24 inch white both polish and mate marble look a little to go with the small hex but it was out of stoke unfortunately.

@ K G - I think that was a mistake. When I look up the reviews on that grey tile some people have posted photos and it was grey. I think someone pulled the wrong tile. Maybe you can try again. The small hexagon tile is the nicest. If you like the larger hexagon, maybe use that for the main floor and the smaller on the shower floor (?)
