May we see all the walls in the room? That looks awfully crowded with the window treatment being crushed behind the table? If that's a bay window, you might consider putting the bed there.

Just wondering before you make changes, is there another wall you could place bed on? It’s feels squeezed in and if you moved to a larger wall, you could do something like below (art above bed may be too high); otherwise add wallpaper if keeping bed there.

In regards to the lamps 😀 they seem to be the right height, but could be narrower and compliment chandelier a bit more and use cream shades. If adding mirrors like above, go smaller

If going with cream shades, I’d change the cushions to compliment them (and walls and will also feel softer with rug)

I had tried orienting the bed against the window and it looked off. Here are more photos of my room.

@Maureen, I agree, I do think my pillows could be softer. I was thinking of changing them too.

Looks like bed may have to remain, so wallpaper could be a good decision to make wall and bed feel more prominent. Only update cushions afterwards.

I think grasscloth would be elegant and yet relaxed. Suggest using fake grasscloth, as it’s much less expensive, easier to apply and it looks nice. Then you could add a mirror(s) over headboard.

FYI: I have used textured, paintable wallpaper with a grasscloth feel and you can then paint, not restricted to wallpaper shades.

A suggestion - dresser area could be more complimentary to your room.

Optimal, secure and restful sleep is attained when your bed is opposite the entry. Your bay looks nice and wide and you have the drapes to pull closed behind the headboard. I think you should try that and live with it for a while. The tables/lamps can easily sit in front of the drapery. Your casegood piece and art can move to the current bed wall so you don't have a dark piece of furniture blocking the entry, and the chair and a nice floor lamp can move into its place

1. You could place your dresser on other wall as you enter and move chair to opposite side and create a little reading area. May have to play around with accessories, art, proportions and layout. Keep experimenting to get it right.

2. You could move chair closer to window, switch dresser to that wall and add a bench with large art on opposite wall.

Then add crystal lamps to nightstands and you’re done. Pretty room!

I agree with switching the dresser and chair spots. Add the darker pillows to the chair and new softer shade on the bed. Agree with crystal lamps with cream shades.

I moved the chair over to the opposite side. It looks better there but the corner wall is not deep enough to fully enclose the chair. Would that bother you? The dresser is too heavy to move right now so we just pushed it over to the side. What about leaving the dresser there? Does it look too busy next to the chair? For the opposite wall, I'm thinking of placing a long upholstered bench with artwork above.

Actually the bench would feel less bulky as you enter. Chair is ok there as there is enough room to walk by. Have you tried chair by the window and center dresser.

If you put the chair by the window, you could use the bedside lamp to read by and have a place for a cup of tea and a book on the table.

I don't have enough room to place the chair by the window. It starts to look and feel too cramped. The chair may be destined for our basement!

Having a chair is handy. If you find it’s in the way eventually you can easily move.

I ordered some pillows online. I selected softer tones as suggested but in solid colours. I don't think I'm capable of mixing patterns! Here are two variations. What do we think?

It looks like you've done a lot of work. We might still move the chair closer to the window/night stand and move the dresser to the other wall where the chair was. Did you ever find lamps that worked?

@BANDD DESIGN, I originally had the dresser on the opposite wall (wall where you enter) and it felt a little bulky. Plus, it was far away from my closet. I think I will move the chair out of the room completely and center the dresser on the wall where it currently is. Unfortunately, I don't have room for the chair to fit near the window/nightstands without it blocking the nightstands. I'm still looking for table lamps.
